Right but small sample size has to be considered in your appraisal of "worst hitter in the MLB" because guys like Correa, Yelich, Gallo, etc are all nestled in that zone as well.

Manoah's been incredible. Can't ask for much more. Bats needs to come up with some insurance

I wonder how those balls would travel without the humidor and the dead balls the MLB is using now.

Is Kirk going to lead the league in infield hits this year by some strange turn of fate? lmao

I think the book is out on Biggio. He can't reliably hit fastballs that well.

Great pitching but I still feel like we're in trouble with the bullpen. When only Cimber, Richards and Romano can be trusted....you're a bit limited

Mayza?? The guy has probably been the most effective reliever so far this season next to Romano.
Anyways, awesome job by Manoah.
Tossing Manoah/Gausman/Berrios out there 3 of every 5 games is looking like it'll result in a lot of W's. What a top 3, wow. And they're under contract/control for 5 or 6 years IIRC
Hopefully Kikuchi settles down a bit and finds his groove too. He's got awesome stuff, just needs to locate better and lay off the cutter more.
Can't wait until they get a couple bats back, a couple more bats wake up, and they start playing a bit lighter schedule that isn't Yankees/Red Sox/Astros every day.

I don’t know who remembers, but last year the Jays had a lot of similar games to these last few, but we lost almost every single one of them.
Each game we were finding new ways to lose - and still just missed playoffs by 1 win.
We are well ahead of the curve this year

I was starting to worry about the Jays offense, but then I went stat hunting. Offense is down all across MLB. The Jays are:
1st in HR
5th in Slugging %
2nd in hard hit %
2nd in exit velocity
9th in OPS
Not nearly as bad as I thought.
BABIP and RISP they are middle of the pack, should be fine.

Nice!
Definitely feels like a lot of men left on base, but that's also just baseball too. Unlucky at the moment with some balls hit on the screws to deep centre field only to be caught.
I would love the see them pick up one more strong bat.

So I'm a too young to remember him pitch but I know of the lore. And thanks to the recent Secret base series I now have a further understanding of how good Dave Steib was. I really think there is a lot of similarities between Steib and Manoah. Just a pure talent who bucked the trend because of how good their stuff is. Maybe some of the folks who saw Steib pitch can correct me if I'm wrong but I'm super excited to see how Manoah matures.

Only concern with Manoah long term is his size. He's young so it works but give it a few years where conditioning matters for longevity, and he'll have to take his weight seriously. He's got ace potential (if not already), but he'll have to do a lot of adjustments to keep his health in check over the long term. Weight loss, mechanical adjustments to account for the weight loss, etc. He's excellent right now though.

Meh, Sabathia had a 19 year career and most of that was very high end. I see the same thing for Manoah if not better.
