Rush the “rebuild” and then spend 5 seasons in a row actively employing the worst head coaches in the entire league and you get what you deserve. It screws up results and development.
There’s no mystery. It’s just poor management.
This team is where it deserves to be.

It's too bad that in 400 games as a Flame we never saw a line of Gaudreau - Bennett - Lindholm/Tkachuk/Dube/Mangiapane/Hudler/Ferland/anyone ever attempted
It took a real NHL head coach to finally split up Monahan and Gaudreau for more than 1 game

Huberdeau has 479 points in 582 games, Gaudreau 483 points in 509 games
Funny how hard people are working to not give Bennett credit
He basically has nothing to do with any of the points he has getting, then, does he? Lol

Watching his clips tonight- he is getting to rebounds as if no one on opposing teams is covering him at all. Perhaps the division just wasn't ready to play him as tight as our division does? Looks very motivated toom good for him. Still don't really care, it was never going to happen here.

We got Gaudreau - Bennett - Chiasson under Gulutzan

Duclair was a free agent this offseason. Anybody could have had him, even the Flames.

No he’s doing the right things which is going to the dirty areas and driving the net
I just think Huberdeau is a criminally underrated player and better than anyone on the Flames
My point was more about him and less about Sam

I came across these posts by some Panthers fans on the HFboards forum:
Quote:
Bennett is smoking hot, has completely pulled Huby out of his funk. Duclair has had a part in it but Bennett has brought a lot of energy to the line.
|

I think it would be overly simplistic to credit Huberdeau and Duclair for Bennett producing right away with the Panthers. Huberdeau was in a truly dire slump until, uh, he got lined up with Bennett.
|

Huberdeau was a ghost for the last 6-8 games. Something just clicked for him again after getting Bennett at center. Not just the points he's actually moving out there again. It was so bad we were sure he has some sorta injury
|
I'm not denying that the line is probably experience a hot streak. They've had six goals for and zero goals against in 3 games, all 5v5. That's obviously unsustainable. but I do think Bennett is bringing something to that line that is probably unique to himself.

And we probably can both agree that a key problem with the Flames is the quality of the wingers

Noel Acciari, Mike Hoffman, Dadonov all have benefited from playing with him
He and Barkov also have great chemistry but it’s wise to try and split them up and get more even production
But almost anyone that skates with him produces

What are you going on about? Sam is playing with a player who is much better than anyone he was playing with in Calgary. It's not surprising he might get more points. Johnny used to get a lot of points, he doesn't anymore. Why do the career numbers matter today? Today Huberdeau is just way way better than Johnny and it's not close.
Not every post about Sam is someone being negative about the guy. Huberdeau is a great player. Not sure how you take that as a shot against Bennett. Really weird.

Glad to see Bennett doing well. He was never going to play up to his potential here. Sometimes a player just needs a change of scenery. Bennett definitely needed one.
Sometimes the Flames are the beneficiaries of a change in scenery trade (Kipper, Huselius, Lindholm). Sometimes the Flames lose out (St. Louis, Giguere, Bennett??) Happens to every single team in the league. Can't be pinned solely on bad management.

Panthers are definitely the team I'm cheering for, and now doubly so. But people seem to conveniently forget they have sucked for such a long time. For awhile there, they looked like Buffalo, a team that finishes perpetually bottom of the league. They've amassed a lot of prospects that all seem to have finally turned it up, with one of the best coaches in the league guiding them. Fun team to watch for sure.
