The big problem is that you're right the money is coming from the Rock and his Ex, and if his idea is to eventually form some kind of partnership with the NFL its likely that the rule change is going to happen. The CFL needs to do something here, attendance has dropped, a whole season missed, They couldn't get help from the government. The suddeness of this makes me feel like the CFL reached out to the Rock for help.

I love 3 down football and the zany rules. The Canadian players helps me go to coach because it excites the kids that there's a chance even a small one of one day being able to play in front of their parents at a pro level.

I do expect that rule changes and ownership changes will be a big part of an XFL requirements for merging.

I wonder what a game (or field) would look like if anytime the CFL team had the ball, it was CFL rules and every time the XFL team had the ball, it was XFL rules.

New lids for the Stampeders’ 75th Anniversary? (via BLM’s Instagram)

(The regular Stamps logo is on the other side of the helmet)

Haha — sorry about that. They were just screen grabs and I tried to zoom in so you could see the helmet better. You can watch the actual video here: https://www.instagram.com/bolevimitchell/

I can understand cancelling the 2021 season if they decide to merge leagues but what is the logic of cancelling the 2022 season?

If this were to be true the CFL is dead.

Agreed, cancelling 2022 makes no sense. Reminds me of this:

In any event, I think the CFL has a good chance of playing games this year — the question is when the season starts and whether they play a full season.

yeah, i was going to question how the United Football Players Association figured into anything.

it would be interesting to know some of the playing football scenarios the CFL is looking at.

i would be heartbroken if the league dieid.

Presumably, cancelling the 2022 season for both leagues would be a prelude to announcing a new 2022 schedule for a new merged league.

But, since it's an unreliable source, there's not a lot of point in worrying about it.

Watching that little clip makes me miss the CFL even more. I'm tired of ####ty Flames hockey and want nothing more than to sit outside on Labour Day watching the Stamps beat the Eskimos!

RIP Mr. Lehew.

Quote:
“Rogers is one of the most important individuals in the history of the Calgary Stampeders and he will be sadly missed,” said Stampeders president and general manager John Hufnagel. “Anyone who knew Rogers quickly realized how much he loved Calgary and the Stampeders and his contributions to the city and the franchise will never be forgotten. On behalf of the entire Stampeders family, I offer my deepest condolences to his family.”
