This week, the United States Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit upheld a 2011 Florida law that makes it illegal for doctors to ask parents if they keep a gun in their house — notwithstanding the fact that the presence of such a weapon is, according to one expert, “43 times more likely to be involved in the death of a member of the household than to be used in self-defence.”
Earlier this year, Georgia Governor Nathan Deal signed legislation known to critics as the “guns everywhere bill.” The law allows Georgia residents to carry guns into bars, most government buildings and gun-friendly churches. On the same day, Kansas Governor Sam Brownback signed a bill that would ban any local government from enforcing ordinances that restrict the open carrying of firearms. “Kansans have long believed the right to bear arms is a constitutional right,” he explained.

That's the first 2 paragraphs of the article... it's so foreign to me it reads like satire.

Oscar Pistorius's defense team probably wishes they could use this as their "See? It happens!' defense.

Except it was her grandson. I'm pointing out that actual gun owners have shot actual criminals for breaking and entering. There are instances where a gun is used for protection.

Well, according to the gun nuts, there are between 1.7 and 3.5 million defensive gub uses a year. Shouldn't be to hard to find some examples.

Many instances can be found where people defend themselves or others from criminals with guns, however its not a sexy story to report like gun crime with different races involved, shootings in public areas ect.

the number of people saved by guns is minuscule to the number of people killed by them, guns are a crappy tool for defence, bloody excellent for offence.

"Defensive" gun use:
http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/renisha...rder-1.2730506
Also, one of the most ironic comments of all time from the man convicted:
Quote:
"I wasn't going to cower in my house," Wafer said.
|
...So said the man who shot an unarmed black girl through his front door. If that is not the very definition of cowering in one's house, I don't know what is.

Not a mass shooting, but someone is needlessly dead.
http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/ne...ally-shot-girl
" KINGMAN, Ariz. — An instructor who was shot by a 9-year-old girl who fired an Uzi at a northwestern Arizona shooting range died Monday night at University Medical Center in Las Vegas."
I mean really, now goddamn dumb is it to put an Uzi in a 9-year-old's hands? Have they never met a 9-year-old? I have, and they are not to be trusted with kitchen knives, scissors, or even crayons (depending on the child of course).
The Bullets and Burgers website markets a unique shooting experience for customers.
“Our guests have the opportunity to fire a wide range of fully automatic machine guns and specialty weapons,” the website states. “At our range, you can shoot FULL auto on our machine guns.
“Let ‘em Rip!”

Extremely dumb. I just don't understand why there aren't age limitations at ranges. How bout starting small? Say a .22? Then work up as the kid gets bigger.
Nah....let's just drop a full auto in her hands.
Brilliant.
