If the Jays do get Ohtani and fans feel comfortable laughing again, Herjavic should definitely throw the first pitch next season.

Yeah honestly if I was a neutral fan I would be finding immense joy in the whole Robert Herjavic thing, it’s absolutely ridiculous

In other news, Red Sox fill the Verdugo hole with picking up ONeill from the Cards. One less landing spot in the AL East (where Kiermeier said he wished to stay and preferred to play on grass). It's now the Orioles (if they even have a spot for him) or nothing, unless he wants to be a bench player or play on turf.

I don't know how to embed tweets on here, but someone with the twitter handle Moccbomb tweeted earlier that Ohtani will be signing with the Jays 10 years north of 600 million. Other people vouching for this guy and said he was first on Soto trade, Kimbrel and Candelerio signings. Has never said when it will be official but has said Ohtani will be a Blue Jay

No clue if he is legit but he pinned his tweet and it’s still up from early this morning, so risking his credibility on that call. Same with the Dodgers writer who also has not walked back his claims. Obviously something got out in some circles that Jays got him, who knows tho
The Dodger writer just recently doubled down on reddit saying he still believes Ohtani is signing with the Jays.
This is what he wrote:
No problem. I’ll post a follow-up story no later than tomorrow morning whether there is new news to report or not. I haven’t heard anything from my sources that would contradict what I originally reported: that Ohtani chose the Jays.
His user name his jphoornstra on reddit, just posted 40 minutes ago
I still don’t trust this guy, but seems to be willing to die on this sword.

I've never heard of him before today but he is a member of the BBWAA so whether what he's saying his true or not, I feel like he's not just making it up. Someone who he thinks is credible told him something.
I'd love to know what he heck happened with Jon Morosi today, though.

He got caught up in all the hoopla and did zero due diligence. No better way than destroying your career than botching a report on the biggest baseball free agent ever. These guys usually have 100 different ways to cover their bs reporting, Morosi just royally screwed himself and gave himself no out. Ohtani was not on the plane, no backing out of that claim

If the Jays do land Ohtani, the commercials are going to be in sufferable, but it’s Rogers, so when are they not?

A Mary Browns commercial with Ohtani can’t be any worse than Springer and Manoah

Morosi is such a clown. Offers the bare minimum apology with zero explanation as to why he jumped the gun.
I regret posting his tweets on here and will refrain from doing so again. Complete nincompoop

So far the LA reporter Hoornstra or whatever is supposedly holding his ground saying that he hasn't heard anything to contradict his original report that Ohtani chose the Jays. Just not being officially announced yet.
Let's hope his sources are right.

Ugh, what a let down. Trying hard to stay positive, despite the BS, still seems like there was some legit Ohtani to Jays "smoke" yesterday.
Perhaps Shatkins just needs to finalize the details on the Yama contract so they can make a dual announcement?
I figure if I'm going to set myself up for disappointment, I may as well go all-in!

I would have to think Pete Walker's going to factor into this huge as well. He's done very well with the pitching staff over the years. A lot of guys aren't name brand and he's worked with them nicely. I bet he was part of the presentation in some way on the pitching side of things. I wonder how reputable his Dodgers counterpart is?

Dodgers Nation standing firm on their initial report that Ohtani has picked the Jays and they are just finalizing all the details, etc
They claim multiple sources have confirmed this since their initial report.

Quote:
What’s going on? Has Ohtani decided or hasn’t he?
According to multiple sources who spoke with Dodgers Nation on Friday, Ohtani’s decision is still in. The Dodgers do not expect to sign him. The Toronto Blue Jays do.
Wait, why isn’t Ohtani to Toronto a done deal?
The time between a free agent making his decision and the time his contract becomes official is not instantaneous. After agreeing to terms, passing a physical, putting pen to paper, submitting the contract to MLB, and having the contract approved by the league, only then does a contract between a player and a team become official. That process hasn’t played out with Ohtani. It can’t begin, of course, until he decides on a team.

Is this all just a ruse by the Dodgers industrial complex to somehow dissuade Ohtani to sign with the Jays? To see if anyone on the Jays executive team will pull a Dave Roberts? Or to give Ohtani some sort of buyers remorse? I don't know. It's all been so bizarre.
