Does corn taste better when hand picked and not ran over by a combine?

I feel like comparing how you harvest something and how you grow something is completely different. A pig that has had its throat slashed before being cut up is not going to taste different than one that had its head chooped off. Just like corn harvested by hand tastes no different than corn picked up by a combine.

But pigs naturally fed etc.. certainly taste different than hormone injected ones. Just like organice corn tastes different than corn grown with hormones and pesticides.

Thank you - despite the poor presentation of the question it was serious. I can accept the first part but the second is not really relevant (different issue in my opinion).

Ok then since organic corn tastes better and farm raised pigs taste better why dont we just get rid of all hormones and fertilizers in everything we do. Lets just raise the cost of food that much more and have more familes not be able to afford to eat. That seems like a win for the world. Instead of killing mass amounts of cheaply made pigs so that everyone can eat we will just start killing off the poor since they won't be able to eat

A solution is reached!

Look, I don't care what you eat or waht anyone else eats. I'm not nota hippy that only eats organic food. My family hunts and I rarely eat red meat that's not wild. I don't eat a lot of pork just from personal preference.

I was just pointing out that comparing how one thing is harvested vs how one thing is grown to try and prove your point makes no sense.

And I am just trying to prove its a ######ed theory to get rid of these salughter houses because it doesn't make sense. They are animals not humans stop trying to treat them as equals. If you want to save a pig go buy a rediculous tea cup pig and raise it as a pet. And have it as part of your family and you can let it sleep with you and eat at your table as much as you want.

I love eating hunted meat I should really learn to hunt one day

Are you aware that there is such a thing as compromise? Solutions don't have to be only at the extremes. You've presented two alternatives, slaughterhouses where animals are treated inhumanely for the sake of saving every possible penny, and a fully free range system where costs go through the roof. There are plenty of ways to move away from the extremes on the one end without coming anywhere close to the doomsday scenario you've painted at the other end. To treat this as an either or situation is ridiculous.

Do you think corn likes to be run over by a tractor? I know I wouldn't. What you are all forgetting is that these are animals and not humans!
Oh come on... are being deliberately obtuse? Are you going to tell me that the nervous system of an animal is the same as that as a plant? That ripping a branch off a tree = the same amount of pain as pulling a leg off a dog? I would like to see some scientific proof of that please.

I'm not forgetting that these are animals. I'm remembering that they have the same ability to physically suffer, ie pain. And many are sentient enough to feel emotions like joy or grief/loss.

Not sure if anyone has seen "Earthlings" before...but I highly recommend it if you want to know where your meat comes from.
