I thought. Sheesh.. I made a mistake. Friggin relax.
How many people have never turned the wrong way on a one way street? I assume it has happened to most people. Not all but most.

Yeah, the guy swearing at you because you screwed up is the one to blame in this situation.
You made a mistake and you'll have to take your lumps for it. Just be glad it was an everyday motorist and not some cop that spotted your mistake.

Do you not see the hypocrisy in proclaiming drivers who think they're the best to actually be the worst while bragging about your own driving exploits?

I disagree. Even the best of us make mistakes and he took immeadiate action to correct it. It is not the business of other motorists to behave like that. If he made the mistake and compounded it by panicing or acting like an ass well then that's different. But in this case, nobody was hurt or even impeded and so buddy yelling was uncalled for. Sounds like he has nothing better to do that be a road rager. Besides, if JAG was crazy he could have pulled a 9mm on the guy or something.

The other day I saw someone cross country skiing across the road, while talking on her cell phone.

I'm sorry but the best of us drive down the wrong way? I don't think I haver ever driven down the wrong side of the road.
You'd have to be not paying attention to do that as there is always a "wrong way" sign facing one way streets.
That's not a mistake, that's negligence.

Track safety requires a level of awareness and attention that is so far beyond what the average driver has to deal with it is laughable, whether it is cars or bikes.
I have 20 years of driving experience under my belt, class 5 and 6 without one at fault accident, and a total of 4 demerits all when I was under 20 in the pre photo radar era. The only accident I was involved in would have killed most riders, had they not had the awreness of what to do. I was lucky enough to escapewith just a busted leg.
I have also worked a few summers as a certified motorcycle riding instructor as well, so I think I can say I have a little experience and knowledge on the subject. Teaching someone to ride a motorcycle which requires an actual physical skill set, as well as obeying the rules of the road are 5 fold more difficult than teaching someone to point a automatic, 4 wheel drive pickup truck down the road without hitting people exiting their cars.
At the OP, How the hell are you so close to the shoulder that you have to slam on the brakes to avoid tagging her? Are you really that good of a driver that you did not notice the person in the back window or their outside or rearview mirror exiting the vehicle? If she was in the vehicle and the brake lights were not on in the car that should signal someone is likely to exit the car. These are all things an advanced driver will observe.
Again in all my years working in the business I do, and the thousands of test drives I have been on and all the miles I have put on both cars and motorcycles, and the road and classroom instruction I have led. The people that claim to having these awesome driving skill sets, have always been the ones that were the biggest hazards on the road.
|
You're such a genius driver but your reading comprehension is so poor? It was a narrow residential road. Remember? And sorry that I didn't see a head bobbing in the window. TBQH, that's something that I ordinarily would have noticed, but between tinted windows and driving on the mounds that accumulate on the residential streets, I guess I just didn't see her until she jumped out.
You're such a smart guy, eh? Mr. Advanced Driver. The race car driver. As though that translates into street driving ability. Thanks for the lesson, bud.
I don't know what's up your ass, Pylon, but you sure are an ass.

Are there any inner city residential roads where two cars can pass between two parked cars with enough space for some space cadet woman to open the door of her parked car? Show me the road if it exists, otherwise, go screw yourself, pylon.

Yes, I know I was the idiot for driving the wrong way for that half block.
I was relating a story about how the guy was frothing at the mouth towards me. Where I would have honked my horn and yelled at the person that they were going the wrong way.
It is an example of the hatred that seems to be out there. Why all of the hate? I hate it.

I too have a great rant about a pedestrian kicking my car, but I haven't figured out how to construct (lie) about how it happened in order to avoid all the cyber bullies around here.
For the record, I never break the law, and if I called her a "fat w$@re" it was fully deserved.

Pretty sure I saved a pedestrian from certain death today in Crowfoot.
I was coming into crowfoot and as I drove past the Petro and Rona some guy was crossing from the Tony Roma/theatre side of the road to go to the BMW/mini/satrun dealership. I was in the right lane and stopped with a truck ahead of me. A guy in the left lane came flying by and only slowed down when I began honking like a maniac. Pretty sure I gave the pedestrian a heads up too. That guy had no idea someone was crossing and almost certainly would have killed him.
