We have a Tassimo machine. Its nice for a quick 1 cup of coffee (which is what I normally have in the mornings) The wife likes her teas and lattes too. One thing to keep in mind is to clean it out regularly. Our last machine lasted almost a year and we had to call Tassimo for a replacement. We didnt clean it as often as we should have and it just quit working. Other than that, its great.

You can get a decalcifier tablets. Plus it comes with a cleaning disc (which is just a blank disc) that runs a cleaning cycle.

We haven't tried any teas yet. Nabob Latte isn't very good; milk has a weird taste. The Breakfast blend is too weak and Maxwell House has a bland cardboard type taste to it.

Try the Nabob skinny latte. The milk tastes way better than the regular one, plus it's less fat.

Does anyone know of a place where you can get just the skim milk pods for the Tassimo? Nabob makes a Skinny Latte, but my wife would like a Skinny Chai Tea Latte and they only sell the Chai Tea Latte with the regular milk.

I picked up the Nabob Skinny Latte and I must agree. It is WAY better than the regular Nabob Latte.

In the USA, you can get the milk pods separately. Maybe there's a way you can order online and have it delivered to Canada? My guess is probably not...

After reading this thread I decided to give the french press a go. I had to google the process to make sure I did properly, but it turned out really well. Definitely better than the drip stuff.

Bump....... just looking at the economics of the single cup brewers. From what I can see the Tassimo discs sell for around $5 for a 16 pack of regular coffee flavoured coffee; 21¢ each. The K-cups seem to be closer to 70¢.
The other thing I'm reading is the T-discs also allow you to make a full sized cup of coffee; like a travel mug. Is that right? Because we have a Keurig machine at work, and to get my travel mug full I need to use 2 K-cups. (And waste some of the coffee it makes.)
Right now looking at the machines it seems the Tassimo ones cost a little more; but if they are cheaper in the long run I might use it more.

I ended up with a T-65(?) Tassimo; Some of the T-discs (Nabob Breakfast Blend is one) will fill my travel mug completely by themselves, it depends on the flavour (programming of the disc). When I make a Nabob Columbian, it doesn't fill my travel mug all the way up but the machine has a feature where I just press and hold the start button after the initial brew is done to chug some more water through the disc to top up my mug.

Kraft and Starbucks recently got into a pissing match over a number of things and, as a result, will no longer be working together. That means there will be no more SB T-discs produced from this point forward although it looks like they will start producing K-cups soon.
Tassimo also recently announced that they would be adding Gevalia coffees, a new Nabob decaf cappuccino, Nabob French vanilla and Twinnings orange pekoe. The Gevalia coffees are being promoted as replacements for the loss of SB.

Can you use a reusable filter in t-disk machines?
I have the same problem with my Keurig that Ken0042 has, however using a reusable filter I just dump out the used grinds and fill it up again. I figure it costs me about $0.01 per cup, if that.

SOB. Tassimo is doomed. But aren't the K-cup pods significantly smaller than the full-size T-discs? Are you going to be able to get the same result out of the K-cup version?

I had got some sampler tea pods when I bought the machine. Now I just drop the same Celestial Seasonings or Twinings flavour in the tea bag form into my mug and stream the hot water into it. Fishing the bag out with a spoon afterwards is no big deal.

Just bought the Keurig Mini at Crappy Tire for $79. Did a pretty good cup (although it's only 8 oz's , I think would have prefered the option of a 10)
If I don't want to order the K-cups online, which store's are the cheapest?
And where could I buy the reusable/use your own discs?

From my casual looking K-Cups generally round out at about $0.50/cup. I don't generally buy them (in fact have only bought them once since getting the machine) but I got the bulk pack at Costco.
The reusable filter I've found to be the cheapest at Future Shop. They usually run $12.99-$14.99 or something like that. That's what I use. Way cheaper than the k-cups, plus you can get the coffee you really like.
I do have the 10oz option on my Keurig brewer but I'm thinking of picking up the 8oz for my brother and parents for Christmas.
PS: If you get the reusable filter, you may need to put a washer above the upper needle to ensure a tight seal around the filter. I think it's back a page or two that I go into detail about how to do it. If not, PM me and I'll explain (I can also mail you an extra washer as I have a few lying around here)
