Drove down Mackenzie Towne Blvd a few times today and it seems almost every sign for some candidates had been kicked over or otherwise mangled.

2 candidates seemed to be immune from this destruction: Shane Keating and Ric McIver.

I had actually changed my mind into voting for Keating after thinking about the posts made in this thread about the Al Browne sign encounter (despite my initial reaction against the way in which the encounter was communicated).

This kind of action, obviously by a Keating supporter, meant I walked right into that voting station and happily put an X beside Al Browne's name.

Noticed Browne and McIver signs right outside the church on the road too. Thought that was odd, as I didn't think campaign signs were allowed to be that close to a voting station.

That is what swayed me to vote Nenshi. Delay a project that is needed for BS reasons IMO.

To be fair, when I went down the Blvd. all of the candidates signs were down, including Keating and McIver.

I think it is more likely that their volunteers were just able to get out and get them set back up again.

I was going to stop and get Nenshi's back up, but then thought if only his were standing people would assume that his supporters were the ones that knocked the others down.

I live right beside the St. Al's the Great School. Shane and Ric had signs nearby the night before and at other stations. Ric had them all over the city as did MANY candidates. I personally saw Rory's team putting up signs AFTER the polls opened yesterday and then saw Al Browne himself follow suit later in the afternoon (the black Chevy returns).

This sort of thing happened all over the city yesterday. Nenshi supporters were tweating like mad about it and were upset about all the signs. Obviously they had no bearing. The election wasn't about signs.

I was fortunate enough to meet Shane's campaign team yesterday. They were mostly family and close friends and the team was surprisingly small. Any signs vandalized would not have been done by anyone on the team themself. It's just not their style. If someone chose to go out and trash other signs and were Keating supporters, they were free lancing. I saw a LOT of toppled Keating signs myself. I know they spent a lot of time fixing their own signs often.

It's certainly not my style either to trash signs. Despite what was implied earlier, I had no direct ties to the campaign. My disdain for Al Browne was my own, but I know from the MANY emails and other messages I got from people, they were appalled at Al Browne's campaign and actions. He did it to himself.

The best man won last night and he did it convincingly. He actually out-polled Browne quite strongly in Browne's Douglasdale community.

Credit where credit is due. Shane Keating is the real deal and will represent Ward 12 just fine over the coming three years. If we don't like him, we have a choice three years from now.

I do want to apologize for the CP community for the way this message from me came across. I'm still angry at Al Browne for the way he treated me and in the presence of my son. I do want be a part of this community and will do so down the road.

Remember, lurking is part of it too. I love following some of the threads on this site and still believe it's the best Flames resource on the web. I ruffled some feathers. It wasn't intended.
