Interesting to see how many people are on them here. I've thought for years I have some form of ADD & need to get on something, my brain's constantly going 17 different directions at once & my attention span can be really bad. Always got decent marks in school though so I think its why I never did much about it.

Think its one of the reasons I have such bad insomnia, once I wake up in the middle of the night to pee or whatever, can never get back to bed because I can't turn my brain off. Anyone find they sleep better once they got on meds?

Wife talked me out of ADD meds and I figured if she is willing to put up with me, and I am not having too much trouble at work/school, then I am fine with it.

Let me know if this worked!

It's 230 in the morning and I've got insomnia so I was reading the site and came across this thread. I wonder if stress is also a cause of many similar symptoms for adults.

I actually take a pill at 9 am, and here I am at 2:50 am, wide awake. It's scary, as I will get up at 9 tomorrow and take spill and I won't be tired all day. I usually take a few days off, just to get decent sleep. And my dosage is pretty middle of the road.

i currently don't take meds for my ADHD. The medication was always messing up my regular behavior habits. My mom had a hard time finding something that could work for me but she pretty much figured i was better off without medication. I have been better without it, i felt like they where holding me back. A few months ago our doctor recommended a medication they thought i could use and i was pretty reluctant to take it because i didn't want that unsettling feeling back.

Bumping an old thread. Was recently given Vyvanse 20mg per day. For a 6 week trial period to see how it goes. I can say I've seen improvement already, my mind doesn't race as much and I can focus on the task at hand. Usually, I'd have a million thoughts racing in the back of my head. I find however that it wears off quickly (3-4 hours) So I'll probably have to see if I can up the dose.

Anybody else have any success stories? Anyone used Vyvanse? I tried a friends Adderall when I was doing two weeks straight of 16 hour days. That stuff was incredible

is there a slow release (SR) of Vyvanse? That might be the solution right there.

My daughter has been on Concerta for awhile. She was on some other ones but it seems to work the best for her. Its slow release so it keeps her steady throughout the day.

We've gone through what seems like millions of them, and currently are settled on a mix of Vyvanse and Intuniv. We started Intuniv when it was still just being given from doctors (i.e. not in the pharmacies yet), and that's probably the most remarkable one out of any of them, had the most positive impact with the least side effects.

Though my son is also ASD so it seemed to make things work a lot differently for him in lots of cases than straight ADD.

It is only a slow release form.

Some interesting info here on a CDC study about differences in treatment for children aged 2-5, diagnosed with ADD/ADHD.

Medication as a treatment is clearly popular in Appalachia/Mid-South (Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma etc.). Whereas psychological treatment is a much more prevalent solution in California, the upper-Mid-West (Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Minnesota). Though not all states have sufficient information.

There is also regional variation depending on if the children are insured through a parent's employer or through Medicaid. All the children in the study were insured.

We had our son on Intuniv and Vyvanse for awhile this summer, and holy crap emotional mood swings and absolute emotional breakdowns. We ended up going back to Straterra and Concerta, even though that can be a handful also when the Concerta wears off at supper. The Intuniv just turned him into a blubbering emotional wreck - it wasn't worth it.

Default seriously guys/Gals. Who's on ADHD meds?

Huh our pediatrician said he has tremendous success with intuniv, lots of his kids could go off other meds with it.

We've tried straterra and concerta and he was so angry and violent that he was frequently isolated at school and even suspended, and at home we were way past the end of our rope.

On the current I'm pretty sure he's a little more subdued than his normal but that's it.

Amazing how different it can be for different kids. It takes two hands to count the number of times I was told that this other med was amazing and had made a life changing improvement in other kids to have no or negative impact for us.

What about a lower dose of Concerta with a small dose of regular release methylphenidate at noon?

I went back on the drugs awhile ago. They kind of work, but not really as advertised. I might change it up. Who knows. The thoughts racing bit certainly go.es away almost instantly after taking the morning dose. I still have to keep myself focused throughout the day.

Sometimes I think I might have some form of ADHD or ADD.
I've just graduated from university and did quite well, but I had a lot of trouble focusing on work that needed to be done, to the point that I was pulling all night paper writing sessions every single time.
I'm currently trying to pull a portfolio together for a masters application in April, and I've done almost nothing despite sitting down to work on it a few times a week for the past two months. Every time, this cool new project pops into my head and I start that instead, to the point that I have about 8 different drawings or projects started, but none actually fleshed out at all.

Or maybe I'm just a lazy piece of crap.
