In history, I'm not sure. I often wonder if Roddick didn't have his serve, where he would be. I thought his game was coming into form when Connors was coaching him a few years back.

Isner has SOME game.
Most one dimensional player? Karlovic, Dent, Guccione, guys with big serves who can't make the top 50.

She almost recovered but made too many errors.
Real high quality match though!

Will be interesting to see if Melzer can do anything against Roger.

Doesn't look good. I thought Melzer's leftyness might trouble Roger but it doesn't look like it so far. 2nd set will be telling.
EDIT: my goodness a break! I'm going to watch this now since the Labour Day Massacre is over!

I'm actually impressed with Melzer. He won't win, but he's in there.

Is Gwen Stefani subject to the natural aging process?
I think Melzer still thought he had a meagre chance in the second set; now he looks like he just wants the match to end.

He thinks the gods are against him so he's just given up!
Gwen looked older when she was younger so not much has changed :P

God I really really am rooting against Nadal. Everything is seemingly going his way. All the big hitters in his half have fallen, and only Spainards stand in his way to the final. He's playing in such a dominant manner at the moment I don't see Federer standing much of a chance against him even on this surface.
While I admire his work ethic and willingness to completely change his game (improved serve, more aggressive), he really is the anti-Federer. Federer's game is not suited to beat Nadal at all, and because of that he is punished in the H2H over and over for it, and of course in slam finals and other big stages since nobody else wants to step up against Nadal.
It's crazy because if Nadal didn't exist, Federer would have 22 or 23 GS'es, 3 CYGS, and other massive accomplishments, yet if Federer didn't exist, Nadal would not do much better - people like Roddick, Hewitt and Safin probably would have benefited way more than Nadal would have.

I almost feel like a failure when I watch Nadal. I just don't like the guy and I cheer for everybody he plays. They all lose.
I think Federer has been slowing down quite a bit over the past 4 years. I believe that if they were closer in age, then Federer would be able to handle Nadal much better.
Federer to meet Soderling in the quarterfinal round. Soderling is one guy who has had good luck against Federer over the past couple of years.

Wavrinka beats Querry in 5 sets in about 5 hours. A really good match for a couple of relatively unknown guys.
The schedule is backed up now. 6pm in New York and still 3 matches to go!
Venus Williams vs. Francesa Schiavone
Sam Stosur vs. Kim Clijsters
Rafael Nadal vs. Feliciano Lopez
Pretty sure this will go well past midnight.

The Ferrer/Verdasco five-setter was epic. It wrapped up with a surreal point in the tie-breaker. I hope there are some highlights available for those to see who missed it.
Clijsters had a hard time adapting to the wind at Ashe tonight. Stosur pushed her pretty hard, but Clijsters fought back hard in the third. Friday's semi-final between Clijsters and V. Williams should be great. The last time Clijsters faced a Williams sister at the US Open, "the incident" happened.

Yup! Kind of a crappy match so far because it's a hurricane out there.
