My cat pretty much lives outside more than in, just turns up for food when it is raining.

I always figure if I had a choice of a long healthy life in jail or risk a shorter one outside I'd want out, why would my cat be different?

Well, in jail, you could probably sleep a lot, sit on peoples laps, and get patted and stroked, just like a house cat.

My cat gets fed in return for catching mice thats it. If he wants to get petted he has to go find some middle aged female nearby.

It's not specifically from this video, The Cat Came Back is a folk song that originated in the late 1800s. That's why it has a very vaudevillian sound to it as well.
