I honestly wish I had a brother just so I could say to him: "Hey brother" every time I talked to him.

This. At first I just wathed the occasional re-run on CBC and I wasn't a huge fan. It was just too...zany. Then I borrowed my buddy's DVD of seasons 1 and 2 and watched them all in order. It was 1000 times better, and all the jokes finally made sense. Its true, its all inside jokes.

I equate it to listening to Jim Rome. If you listen all the time, he's hilarious. But if you only catch it once in awhile, you just think he's a weirdo and a bit of a dick.

PS- I've pretty much used up all my thanks' in this thread.

You didn't just compare Jim Rome to Arrested Development did you?

Haha I knew I'd get that. You know what I mean. They're both big on the running jokes.

I think that was one of the problems AD had with not developing a larger audience. People would tune in for the first time halfway through a season and not have a clue what they're talking about. Too bad, for all-time sitcoms its firmly entrenched #2 behind Seinfeld for me. There's always money in the banana stand.

PS- not a clone Rome fan or anything, but he's good for a home run line/story here and there.

My favourite minor recurring character was the literal doctor...

Dr. Fishman: "It looks like he's dead."

Michael: "Just to be clear. Looks like he’s dead, or he is dead?"

Dr. Fishman: "It just looks like he’s dead. He’s got like blue paint on him or something. But he’s going to be fine."

Also, I believe this was taken at one of those Tea Party rallies last year...

Jason Bateman's subtle physical comedy is top notch in this series. I don't remember ever thinking anything of him as an actor. The only thing I had remembered seeing him in previously was Hogans Family and Teen Wolf Too, neither of which being comedic showcases.

Jeffrey Tambor made an appearance on Entourage last night, made an Arrested Development reference.

I have to say, that episode was one of my least favourite, but it still had its funny moments. "Go for the nuts!"

Of course that was the one where Tobias finally took Michael's advice and taped his unique speech patterns for a day.

"Tobias, you blow hard."

Also in this episode is the start of the "No Touching!" the "always money in the banana" exchange... and one of my personal favs Michael promoting George Michael, to manager of the Banana stand by saying "Congrats Mister Manager" and George Michael responding by saying.. All right, I'm Mister Manager"

...just manager...

Michael Bluth: [looking at a gift basket Michael received] Didn't you get one of those, too? You bought Lindsay at the same auction.
Tobias Fünke: I'm afraid I prematurely shot my wad on what was supposed to be a dry run if you will, so I'm afraid I have something of a mess on my hands.
Michael Bluth: There's so many poorly chosen words in that sentence

Tobias Fünke: [after Michael asks Tobias to buy a tape recorder to record conversations of himself speaking] You know, Michael, perhaps I should buy you that tape recorder. Do you have any idea how often you say the word "afraid"?
Michael: Well, I know I did in the jacuzzi.
Tobias Fünke: And I apologize for that. I thought it was a pool toy

Narrator: On the next Arrested Development, Tobias listens to a day's worth of his own recordings to see what Michael was referring to.
Tobias Fünke: [on tape] Even if it means me taking a chubby, I will suck it up!
Tobias Fünke: [out loud] Nothing wrong with that.
Tobias Fünke: [on tape] I've been in the film business for a while but I just cant seem to get one in the can.
Tobias Fünke: [out loud] Context...
Tobias Fünke: [on tape] I wouldn't mind kissing that man between the cheeks.
Narrator: And he realizes there IS something distinct about the way he speaks.
Tobias Fünke: [out loud] Tobias... you blow hard!

Tobias Fünke: Michael, you really are quite the cupid. You can zink your arrow into my buttocks any time
