With competent quarterbacking Winnipeg would have won this game easily. Jyles was just chucking it up all game.

I always thought Browner was one of the best defensive backs in the league.

Also, according to the commentators anyway, on the play in question the guy who caught the ball was NOT Browner's man to cover, it was the responsibility of the other DB on that side.

He's one of those high risk, high reward players. He's going to make some big hits and plays but he's also going to miss tackles and get burned for pass interference and big plays. IMO the good outweigh the bad as he's blanketed more than a few good receivers over the years.

I actually liked that about Winnipeg's game last night. So far no team has really tested the Stampeders secondary deep. Jyles exposed them at times and the Stamps were fortunate that Ralph couldn't get his hands on that perfect deep ball in the end zone.

I know, eh? That was actually one of the few mistakes he made last night. He played well against the Bombers. On that play, they were actually a mixed-up between him and Milton Collins. Collins is manning Bowman was supposed to switch with Browner and go after Edwards. Unfortunately they didn't switch and both of them ended up going after Bowman; hence Edwards was wide-open.
Other than those two miscues, both Browner and Collins were a forced there.

Don't know whats up with the Browner hate. I was sitting first row on the 55yrd line and he was one of the few emotionally fired up on the bench. I don't think he noticed the gaggle of "Little Miss Outriders" waiting for half-time when he started dropping f-bombs and psyching other guys up. He couldn't find his helmet for a couple seconds when it was time to go back on the field! Then he had a couple wicked bat-downs to break up passes out to the flats.
Also, WELCOME BACK RAMBO!!!
And, how about that Nik Lewis? The leapfrog over (cant remember, was drunk) must have been seven feet+ high. Oh wow!

Scoring Winger
|
There are some nights where Browner completely takes away the short side of the field, and on most nights at least has QBs thinking twice about going to that side of the field. Sure he is going to take some bad PI calls, but a short down corner like Browner isn't always easy to find in the CFL so you take some of the bad. No doubt in my mind that with Browner and Anderson the Stamps have the best CB tandem in the league.
I was borderline shocked with how well Rambo played. Not that he isn't skilled, but to just come back from a knee injury like that let alone play well is pretty amazing.

The pass interference call and the 3 and 1, where he threw the long bomb, missed, but got away with it because Calgary was offside stood out to me.
He made a few long throws, but IMO he didn't utilize Reid enough.

Browner is also one of the most physical CBs in the league - and although that means from time to time he will get flagged he also can wear down the opponents receivers.
One of the assets the Stamps have is that they have guys like Browners and Lewis on the other side of the ball that just play an incredibly hard-nosed brand of football.

If Ralph catches that ball, the flag gets thrown for offensive pass interference, IMO. Ralph majorly pushed off. Since he didn't catch it, the ref probably didn't need to throw the flag.
