anyone been to rocky's lately?

I just had a burger, and I think it's from Rocky's, my coworker just picked me up one from the "burger bus" and it tasted a little bit different. It still looked the same, thick hand formed patty, no lettuce or tomato, mustard, onions and relish. It was wrapped in the same wrapper (black and white checkered paper)

The taste, however, was more flavorful this time. I think it was seasoned with salt and fresh cracked pepper, or maybe montreal steak spice.

I'm not sure if it was from Rocky's, or this other burger bus near my work called Bubba Louie's Burger Bus.

Anyone been to Bubba Louie's or Rocky's lately?

Can you ask said coworker where he/she may have picked up the burger?

he just told me it was a burger bus down the street ,which could mean either of the 2.

he's left for the day (maybe to succumb to food coma)

so me and a friend went there yesterday, and he was intent on ordering the Meat Orgy (a double burger). he did, finished it, and proclaimed it the best burger he's ever eaten

he then proceeded to pass out at his desk in a meat coma

Had a Bubba Louie's burger for lunch today. Home made and pretty good. I'm not sure I can compare it to Rocky's; different kind of burger. This was something more along the lines of something I would make at home. Fries are very much the same. I will be going back, but will likely be hitting Rocky's again first.

A couple of other notes:

- Address on most websites is wrong. It is on the NE corner of 3rd street and 51 ave SE. Link
- They are not open year round like Rocky's.

Rocky's is definitely my favourite burger in the city. The staff is super friendly as well. Infact, on google street view if you zoom in, you'll see 3 people at a picnic table eating. I'm one of those 3. Pretty much famous, I'm signing autographs all week.

After all the hype on CP I tried a Rocky Burger. It wasn't anything to write home about. Maybe they just had a bad week. I will try one more time.

I love them in the sense that it is a "real" home cooked burger 10x better than anything coming off my grill. If I had to complain about 1 thing it would be the lack of seasoning....then again our brains are programmed to think mc d's is a burger.
Most likely mentioned somewhere in the thread but didnt the bus make a top 100 list out of NY?

Rocky's burger bus is open on Saturdays for July/August.

Just to update this in case you were thinking "seeing as I am off for Boxing Week, why don't I stop by Rocky's."

I was there on Friday, and they had a sign up saying they would be closed all this week.

Unless it's a picture issue that burger is completely well done, which immediately DQ's it from any consideration for best, or even edible. One of the biggest reasons I could never move back to Canada is the complete absence of anything but a well done burger.

Unfortunately in Canada, you will rarely find a place willing to serve you anything but well done. One of the best burgers of my life was at a random hotel restaurant in St. Louis. 100% hand made and served medium rare. When eating a rarer burger everything has to be spot on. You can't disguise the bad meat by cooking it well done.
