He does seem a bit bigger though. Power forward build, but not premier power forward skill and ability.
Is that regardless of how John Carlson, the player drafted 2 spots after him does? So if Namisz becomes a Burnette clone, but Carlson goes on to have a Rob Blake career ten you're laughing all he way to the bank?

Considering Nemisz would be the most successful forward the Flames have drafted and developed in over a decade if he turned into the next Brunette, I think we'd all be so elated at the fact the Flames actually managed to turn out a successful forward that we wouldn't be giving a damn about what Carlson is doing

We could complain all day about players that are better than Nemisz who were drafted before/after him, but it still doesn't change the fact that Sutter picked him and there is nothing we can do about it but sit back and pray he turns into a productive player.

It's really immaterial to the Flames what becomes of Carlson, but I think both teams will be happy if each of their players turn into a Brunette (Nemisz) or a Blake (Carlson).

The jury's still out on Nemisz, but some big guys who aren't gifted skaters like Dave Andreychuk, have taken awhile to develop....Not that I think Nemisz will be an Andreychuk, but he's the closest thing to Nemisz I could think of.

I'm really not making a comparison. Just saying that if Nemisz is a Brunette clone the Flames made a good pick.

I like the Nemisz pick now. I was a huge advocate of selecting John Carlson at the time, and still wish we did, for obvious reasons now... but if Nemisz turns out to play in the NHL for us, I'm happy with that too.

You can't really compare selecting one or the other, either. We selected a forward, because we needed one. Had we selected a defenseman that wasn't John Carlson, I may be a little more dissapointed. But I'm not, since we needed a forward.
