What have you got against Keith's? Its very refreshing!
Also, not everyone shares the greatest sense of taste in the world with you there Mr. Superior Palate.

Agreed on the stella, heineken etc being average. They get special treatment because of where they are from when there are beers from there that are magnitudes better.
Belgium got beer right though, they have by far the best beers of the world imo. Cant go wrong with any of the trappist beers (dutch one is good too!).

Beer is commonly used as an example of lifestyle marketing in, um, marketing classes. Suffice it to say that most people can't tell beers apart, even by broad categories (e.g. ales, pilsners, etc.).

+1
+100 if we are talking about wine. A famous blind study proved top wine-tasters could not differentiate cheap from expensive wine, or even red from white. It's all marketing.

That'd never happen to Scotch drinkers.

I agree to a certain extent.
If I bought a taster pack that had a wheat beer, a lager, an IPA and a stout, I'm fairly confident I could tell which ones are which.
Same if I had a bottle of Dab, Pilsner Urquell and Newcastle. I could fairly easily tell which ones are which.
Now if I did a totally blind taste, with no prior knowledge of what I was about to taste or what types of beer they are, there are certainly some situations where I might mix up some of the beers or mislabel them.
I think it depends on whether or not we are talking about bland beers that are mass marketed or beers that are distinct. I probably could barely tell the difference between Kokanee, Canadian, Blue and Pilsner.

Ok so you aren't a fan of Pilsner, that is fine you don't have to drink it.
We have plenty of other companies that make beer in Saskatchewan.. for instance..

I hope you weren't talking about me. I'm about as die hard of a Riders fan as exists and absolutely love Pil. However just because I love drinking Pil doesn't mean I lie to myself and pretend it is great beer.
Some liquor stores in Calgary do carry Western but usually I only see the Lager. don't think I've ever tried the pilsner.

If you are asking that question to GL, I am pretty sure he meant Pilsner the brand.

I am far from being a beer connoisseur, but even I can tell the difference between molson canadian and rickards red. Molson has a more of a yeasty flavour. While rickards red is more bitter.
Btw. In my opinion rickards red tastes ok. Much more drinkable than molson or kokanee.

Just curious, to all the people making fun of Rickard's White for being served with an orange: How do you take your Corona and Grasshopper?
Both are served with fruit, lime and lemon respectively. I like any Corona type beer with lime (helps hide the mexican pee flavour) but I HATE it so much when I get a Grasshopper and it is served with lemon. But I do drink Rickards White with an orange and I love it.

Loved the Cypress Honey Lager and the Maple Cream Ale.
If someone was really interested in getting some they might be able to get a liquor store to order a flat for them (4 x 6 btls).

I think (could be misremembering, it was a few years ago) that I've bought it before at the liquor store on 12th Ave across from Safeway. Even though it's kind of a divey liquor store.
Love those west coast pale ales.... Granville Island, Okanagan Springs, Pipers.
