They have 1 cent ribs on Wednesday! Only time I've been there, I prefer Jamesons to the Kilkenny.
Have you been to Tipperarys pub on 16th ave NW? I've heard good things about the food there, but never actually gone in.

Tipperary's (sp?) is ok. I like it because it is the official Rider's pub in Calgary. I watched the 07 GC there with the Sask Social Club of Calgary and it was awesome. I don't remember the food.
Kilkenny is ok for students on Wednesdays.
Also, +1 for the Den on Thurdsay nights.

Busiest place on 17th ave, so busy they don't have time to wash their dishes. Ever get served an almost cold pint in a glass with lip prints on it? Will never go back.

Well I was talking more in jest in the quoted post. But in terms of service it is all tips. The servers get paid eff all and the tips make it viable for them to be in that job. I used to be a crappy tipper then I started dating someone who was a server. Totally changed my perspective.

Also like to pledge my support for Bob the Fish on 17th ave. Another pro-Rider's pub that I enjoy frequenting.

Honestly, I've started to fall out of love with the Den. It's alright once in a while, but seeing the same crowd and listening to the dj play the same stuff (honestly, part of the set list hasn't changed since the early 2000's...my cousin confirmed this with me) every Thursday gets a little old.
I was at a greasy dive here a couple weeks ago...right by Pazzer's or whatever that Saskabush pub is on Highway 1. I think it was called the Clubhouse. It's connected to a Korean BBQ place just on the other side of that building.
Anyways, it's just a dirty place. The only bartender didn't know what was on tap (AGD, and that's it...but hey it only cost $3.50 a pint) and would play VLT's when she wasn't serving anybody. Also, the Muppets were on one of the 2 tv's in there at that point. This was on a Sunday mind you, but man, it was quite the dive.

I recall the day my friends and I went in there to find all the old TV's has been replaced by new flat screen ones, the disappointment was nearly unbearable.

Yep. Nothing beats playing some out door hockey, and then driving across the street for to get loaded.

Has anyone mentioned Moose McGuire's by McMahon Stadium?
Tons of screens to watch games, excellent food/beer prices.

I would like to nominate the Boathouse Pub in Chestermere on the strength of its Nachos alone.

Moose's fell out of favour with me when they stopped giving away the free baskets of peanuts.

Fortunately, it would appear they've updated slightly in the last fifteen years or so.

I will second this., especially for Punk Rock Bingo on Tuesdays, and "Real or Fake?"
I personally love Moose McGuire's, for it's cheap beer and food, and we get good service. The Drum is good for a night out, The Unicorn is awesome, and I love Kensington Pub as well. Unfortunately, those 3 pubs are pricier. Calgary has lots of good pubs, but I'm more about the company I am at the pub with, then the bar itself.
Also, I met my gf at Schooner's in Coach Hill (classy, I know), so it has some sentimental value for me as well.
