Well done. About 3 pounds a week is a pretty high pace to lose weight. To keep up that pace for an entire year?! That's quite the achievement.

Wow, nice work. When it comes to working out and losing weight I'm not easily impressed but this is impressive. Congrats.

Maybe you could call Subway and take that dummy Jared's job.....just say you ate subs for a year.

Well, he doesn't have a health problem like you do. At least I'm pretty sure.

For someone starting where he started, loosing weight eating 2000 calories per day is exactly what you want to do. Your metabolism doesn't slow down that much.

Just astounding, good for you! If I lost 170lbs. I'd make a damn t-shirt that advertised it.

I lost 17 lbs. using a combination of LoseIt on the iPhone and Couch to 5k. I can't tell you how much I recommend Couch to 5K if you want to get into running. It ramps you up very slowly and gives you increasingly hard workouts over 3 months. It starts out having you jog for 60 seconds, then walk for 90 seconds, and each workout lasts about 30 minutes. By the end you'll be running at a very impressive pace for the full 30.

The 2000 calorie/day thing worked pretty well for me. I went for 1800 while I was losing and now that I'm down I'm around 2000-2200. My weight loss was very very slow (about 1 lbs. per week), but I found the slow transition was easier on my delicate mind. There was no rapid change in diet that was hard to become accustomed to ... just focused on portion control.

Again, a giant congratulations on losing so much weight. You must look like a completely different person.

Duffman: No, no... I was either on the treadmill or in the pool for at least 1 hour every day, usually more. What I meant by being out of shape was more that while I can swim for 90 minutes, that's not racing or high-impact swimming. If I'm going all-out I can only do 3 or 4 laps and then I'm dead tired. Plus all the exercise was cardio, so I want to start mixing in some weights.

Pinner: The 2076 is what LoseIt! is giving me as a budget now that I'm at goal. Yesterday my budget was 1108. If I wanted to eat more than 1108, I had to earn it on the bike.

Russic: Thanks for the app suggestion. Apps seem to work for me. I'll give that a try since I'm just starting on the running.

I appreciate the congratulations, but I do want to thank those that were helpful in this thread and others. In turn I'm passing those ideas onto others. Amazing how contagious it was... the guys on the testing team decided to do a "Biggest Loser" contest based on my success and they tried to see who could lose the most weight over a two month time span.
