I understand the reason for the rule. Heck, I hate kids, and I would gladly move to a different seat on a plane to be away from the little brats.
But I would never stand for being told I was being re-seated because I was seated next to an unfamiliar child, and I would be extremely offended if airline staff ejected me for non-compliance.
It is absolutely deplorable, despicable, and unacceptable to me that innocent men be treated like potential criminals. It is absolutely unwarranted.
You cannot treat someone like a criminal because the potential exists for that person to commit a crime (except in the cases of conspiracy-to-commit X). Authoritative response must always be reactive, and never proactive.
