I open the book.

I read the dialogue.

I see "he hissed," "he growled," "he spat," "he yawned." I wonder how one yawns out an entire sentence.

I close the book.

I read between 5-10 books a week, often re-reading books I've finished (mainly cuz I can't afford to always get new books). So to have read these books twice isn't exactly something that indicates I'm enthralled with them - I'm more a sci-fi/fantasy geek than teen romance person.

Twilight really isn't something I'm all gooey over - it was just a good time-waster that was moderately entertaining. I don't have a "team" to support and tbqh, would rather my vampire stories be more of the True Blood variety if they have to be at all.

Castigating women for being ga-ga for these books seems unfair tho - men have their own things that they are non-sensical over but they aren't being constantly derided for it.

PS - Just to add, anything to get kids reading again can't be all bad - there are far too many kids out there that haven't even read ONE book before these....hopefully these books or the Harry Potter books or whatever comes along next will keep kids turning actual pages.

What a sec...this sounds familiar, I've heard this complaint directed towards me before!....just replace twilight books with comic books(although I prefer the term graphic novel). "When are you going to grow out of this blah blah this stuff is for kids." Same thing with videogames. "There are gossip sites for videogames?"...a comment after watching me read over joystiq.com. Hell, I make fun of my friends that order ppv wrestling. Really, you're never too old for some dumb entertainment.

I hear you, but then I see these women:

And I have to respectfully disagree - at least Boblobla and I have the decency to express our love for Jenna Haze in private, without being an affront to Darwin, like these women...

Bouwmeester was pretty epic though, right? I admit I got pretty excited about that one.

I've read the books. I knew they weren't "good", but I still enjoyed them. I went to see the first movie when it came out and it was sufficiently horrible that I'm not going to go see any of the other ones.

My conclusion: Twilight fans are cold-blooded harlots, possible pedophiles or 12-year-old girls. How we as a society deal with these parasites is a complicated issue, but pelting them with rocks would be far from the worst option.
