Awesome pics. I really wish I could travel more. I've basically only been to the US and Mexico.

Lots of great photos here. I really need to do some traveling.
As for my guess, political personal protection, technically a law enforcement position (RCMP provides I believe), could include lots of travel depending on the person being protected, and long, strange hours, could also have something to do with why you'd have to call CSIS, background checks of foreign contacts, or reporting something interesting, or...
I know my guess won't be confirmed or denied but that's what I'm thinking...

Seriously, how do I become a guy who travels around on planes, possibly with a gun, possibly with a license to kill?!

You have to be RCMP...

But before they take to the air, officers hone their skills on the ground at an Ottawa-area warehouse. On the outside, it's nondescript. Inside, it's the airport from hell, where mock hostage dramas, hijackings and attempted bombings play out weekly.
There's a departure lounge, complete with a check-in counter. A "jet-way" takes one into the expansive cabin of a DC-10 wide-body jet – a real one, its wings sawed off to fit the building. Two other aircraft – a narrow-body Boeing 727 and a small private jet – are housed in the same warehouse.
The seats are filled with mannequins playing the part of would-be travellers. Many are peppered with bullet holes, a testament to the reality of the training.

Well that sure is cooler than me sitting on the "flight deck" of a Dash 8-100
Regardless, one of the coolest experiences of my life
