90% of actors are nothing without decent coaching from the director and a decent script.
That's a pretty arrogant belittling of that profession. Not that I disagree with the intent of the statement. Alot of popular 'actors' aren't actors at all and do require a significant amount of coaching, camera tricks, excellent writing and audience oversight.

However, real actors require significant amounts of talent and hard work to excel at their job.

I'm really just playing the devil's advocate. I don't see a lot of potential in her, but I wouldn't write her off completely based on the crap she's been in that would have been crap with or without her.

Up until Brokeback Mountain, Health Ledger was pretty much the male version of Megan Fox.
Apparently her new movie will either show if she can act, or not. Jennifer's Body is the movie. I don't think she's that bad of an actor, she isn't oscar worthy by any means, but there are far worse, Jessica Alba is worse than Megan Fox is IMO.

I probably should have said "90% of the most popular actors", because for most of them, looks and industry connections account for more than acting ability.

I would disagree with that, lots of critics noted impressive performances by Ledger in 10 things I like about you and A Knight's Tale even though the movies weren't as well received. He was thought by many to be a rising star and not just a popular one but a good actor.

Megan Fox has shown really no talent in anything she has done, not only the Transformers movies but in How to make Friends and Alienate people, where she actually had a chance to act.

I thought he was pretty meh in A Kinights Tale and awful in Brothers Grimm and the Patriot. I liked him in Lords of Dogtown though, but didn't think he was awesome in it.

Megan Fox is only 23, so she could still be on the upswing too. Most people aren't experts in their profession at that age, and many actors make stinkers early in their careers.

Hollywood is quite a place for a young attractive lady. Most of the time, they cast them to be flirty boob bouncers and don't exactly give them the best scripts.

I didn't know Megan Fox's agent was based in Prince George. Weird, shouldn't you be in Hollywood?

IMHO OILERFAN is the only person in this thread actually making a decent contribution.
