Well we have 4 separate people with Shaw internet with IPs that start with 174. I would say that is a pattern.

On a sidenote, I also have difficulties accessing rackster.com from home (which would seem to make sense since they are the hosting provider).

This is my IP.
I am still having the same terrible load times. Mac osx, xp and iphone all are slow but all access the same router.

Just checked from my iPhone with wifi off and cp works fine.

Any suggestions?

same as me just I am only working with iPhone. I am in Prestwick on Shaw, as stated earlier

works awesome at work though. We use TeraGo networks here

There might be a bit of downtime tonight, Rackster's provider is going to be doing some maintenance to hopefully fix the packet loss. So hopefully things clear up tonight.

Interesting, I've got a 174 IP as well, I sense a conspiracy for slowness. Heh

I am currently posting from a work computer, with Shaw as our provider and have a 174.0.*.* address on this computer but am loading no problem and was on the weekend as well while still having problems from my home PC.

According to whatismyip.com My Wii had the same IP as my home PC but didn't reallly have problems with loading CP, albeit on a different browser. (Opera) There's been a couple of occasions where there has been a bit of a slowdown on the Wii loading CP, but we're talking a couple of seconds, whereas on my PC it would never load at all.

Although I'm not having problems with this computer, here is the tracert from the comupter I am on
That is the type of thing that makes this brutal to solve. 2 computers in the same home, presumable going through the same router (and so having the same IP) and one has issues and the other doesn't?

People who have problems, do you get them if you go through a proxy?

If I use a VPN proxy through Chicago or my phone through Bell mobilty there are no issues. When I tether my phone to any of my laptops, again there are no issues.

When I use my Shaw internet connection, any computer connected through the router, or even with the router bypassed will not work properly with this site or rackster.com.

That packet loss that I previously had shown is still evident unfortunately.

This is not a "computer" issue at all, rather a routing or firewall issue on the route through to the hosting provider with IPs that start with a 174 on Shaw's network. It might even be a DNS issue because this 174 space is new for Shaw and the subnet hasn't propogated through those particular BGP routes that the hosting provider is using.

Anyways, I hope they fix it sooner or later. It's tough not being able to surf this site

Because the problem is intermittent (i.e. sometimes the page loads fast, most times it doesn't), the "works for different clients on the same connection" thing is kind of a red herring.

Like ikaris says, this is a routing issue outside of the house. It doesn't matter what client you use or what browser and operating system. If it worked on the Wii and not the computer, I guarantee that if you try at a different time of day, you'll probably find that it'll work on the computer and not on the Wii, or more likely, won't work on either.

As for the proxy thing, if I make a VPN proxy (or proxy via SSH) to either my company's connection (which uses Telus) or a VPS I have access to in Florida, I don't encounter any issues; pages load fast, even despite being routed through an encrypted connection and (in Florida's case) being bounced around a couple of times between the US and Canada.

Interesting times.

174 as well - the slowness has drastically reduced my ability to read this site (and subsequently my productivity has shot through the roof...).

Hope the problem get's fixed before the season starts - this SUCKS.

fwiw I am still slow at home. I am trying to study for an exam and this slowness is really cutting into my procrastination time.

I should add that it seems to be waiting for dreamhosters.com when it hangs.

When I get home from vacation I'll be able to spend more time diagnosing things, and I'll try moving the images off of dreamhost to see if that makes a difference.

^ Please

Right now I can only surf from work or my phone. CP is missing out on my wisdom unless I have time to slack off at work!!

(And yes I am slacking off at work right now)

There was some downtime last night according to my monitoring, but I take it it didn't fix anything?

Man I hope we can get this resolved, having to move it again would suck.

I use shaw, and my IP starts with 174.

I'll try it again today when i get home before floating. But, i haven't even been able to get on to read this thread to see WTF is going on.

Yeah I'm just changing where the images come from, some weirdness until it's all moved over.
