I would if you have the time becuase I know that I wish I had. I mean, I remember the original Tron however I don't remember all the details of the original.

A good example is the "That's a big door" comment in the beginning. You'll know what I'm talking about when you see the movie.

Yeah, I'll have to go back and watch the original Tron.

It didn't look like this.

So dumb, so dumb.
Why is this dumb? I see one to two movies in theatres per year so I'm fairly partictular as to which movies I see. In todays worlds consumers have more and more discressin with what they want to do with their entertainment dollars, so if you're going to shell out $15.00 for a night out at the movies why not read a few reviews, and take them into account? I'm not saying I won't see a movie that is below 80% on RT but if I'm choosing between two I'll always go with the one that gets higher reviews.

As an example, I'm back in Calgary for Christmas and my family and I wanted to go see a movie the other night. My parents wanted to see Tron but after seeing the poor reviews on RT we chose to go with The Figther. Based on what I've read in this thread sounds like we made a good choice because the The Figther turned out to be a pretty good movie.

No I probably won't see it, and the main reason is that it got bad reivews. Again I don't really watch a lot of movies and I value my free time and I'm not going to waste it on what sounds like a crappy movie.

FWIW I saw it tonight (non 3D) and I thought it was excellent. It was cerebral without getting "matrix" cerebral, and the virtual world they crafted was, as weird as this is going to sound, how I have always imagined a virtual world to look. Also seeing the first film is not necessary to understand this one. They did an excellent job of re capping the original storyline in relatively short order. The only gripe I had was Clu's face, as the younger version of Flynn was very obviously cgi, I have seen video games that had better faces. The big tip off was always the teeth. For some reason they didn't look right. Other than that, the effects were impeccably done, without over complexity or overkill elements. This one will never have the cult status, or be as ground breaking as the first film, but it was still well worth the 12 bucks. All in all I would give it 4/5.

I saw Tron last week.

As my first 3D movie I was pretty impressed with the 3D aspect of it, is the blurring normal? because that really annoyed me at first.

As for the movie, it was as expected, and I liked it. I don't know how anyone who saw the first Tron would expect much more than that this time around.

The geek in me was amused that Encom's OS 12 was probably just a *nix variant at best, assuming that they were probably running it themselves.

I fully enjoyed the movie, as did the other two people I saw it with. The score alone is worth the price of admission.

It did help to watch the original on tv a couple of weeks ago. Without that, there are some references that I wouldn't have gotten.

Saw it yesterday and really enjoyed myself. I thought they did a great job of incorporating cheezy 80s stuff that is right in my wheelhouse (Journey's 'Separate Worlds' and then The Eurythmics' 'Sweet Dreams' blaring loudly in the arcade!). I thought "old" Kevin Flynn was played well by Bridges. Olivia Wilde is very easy on the eyes. The soundtrack was great and the music really fit in with what was being experienced on the screen. Bruce Boxleitner was great in his role as Alan/Tron, it was good to see him in something again.

I'm on board with Pylon - 4/5

I fell asleep. Quorra was nice though.

The nightclub owner was funny.

The story makes no sense - how are humans living inside a digital world? How could Quorra go to live in the real world?

It is that fine line between being old enough that it was a seminal movie from your childhood and being too old now that you can't stay awake to watch it.

I saw it over the weekend in 3D.

It was my first 3D movie, I was more impressed with the Pirates of the Carribean trailor 3D than I was with Tron 3D.

I liked it but thats because I am a computer guy and I like movies like Tron, Hackers, Dune etc etc etc. The story was very Matrixy. I at one point expected the red guards to start multiplying. The chick in all white with Zeus, OMG wow, amazing.

I left the movie wondering if Zeus was once of those annomilies that were purged (like olivia wilde)but he was kept around to help the young jeff bridges.

One question for those of you who saw it. Was the Young Jeff Bridges all CGI? I didnt even notice it until the last scene and the poeple I went with said it was CGI. I figured they put a good mask on an actor. It could be that the glasses gave me a serious headache so I wasnt exactly thinking straight.

One more thing, props to the Cineplex Theatre that has assigned seating. I love that.

Whenever something like that happens. Just remember, the Wizard did it.

No he was cgi. Its some new tech that allows them to use past performances and splice it over another actors face.

I saw it. The visuals were great but the writing and the story were terrible. How the hell did Flynn make a roast pig in the digital world? And why would you even bother? Stupid.

Finally saw this last week and I absolutely loved it. Maybe it was just that it was in IMAX, or 3D, or Wilde being hot as hell, but either way it was a winning combination. The visual effects were awesome.

It felt more like a Disney ride than a movie. Non stop action. Great film for what it was.

The soundtrack is also amazing. Check it out if you liked the movie. One of the best albums I've bought in years.

Haven't seen the movie but the soundtrack is total crap.

I should clarify though. It is total crap if you expected it to be a Daft Punk soundtrack. I loved the score to the Social Network because it was good as a soundtrack and it had a cool NIN type vibe to it.

On the entire 22 song soundtrack there are maybe 3 Daft Punk songs with another 5 or so that sound like they are influenced or stylized like Daft Punk. The rest are supposedly by Daft Punk but in reality are just a regular orchestral score.

Compared to say a Hans Zimmer score or your average hollywood soundtrack I'd give it a 7/10. Interesting but not great.

For a Daft Punk Soundtrack I'd give it a 1/10. Unless Daft Punk switched from electronic music to orchestral music they had nothing to do with 90% of the score.

Edit: haha Knalus. seems we don't agree. I thought I was buying a Daft Punk soundtrack. TSN score blows it out of the water. And my fave Daft Punk album, Homework, is lightyears ahead of the Tron soundtrack. Most of the soundtrack is very generic sounding. It really does sound like a Hans Zimmer score inspired by or tweaked by Daft Punk.
