In Bridgeland, Pizzaria Roma is pretty good. Fairly expensive but I love the pepperoni they use.

Volos is good but way too expensive.
I haven't heard one plug for Bella Roma in Lakeview. Man they have it right. The bella roma special or the tom's special are a great way to treat one's self. They aren't very big but the amount of cheese is welcome. Also, the thing that does it for me is their sauce. Man those greeks make a mean pizza sauce.

I'm a big fan of Papa John's. It really blows the other major chains away. Obviously if you are ordering from home you get the chance to check out and know your local independent pizza places, but if you are at a friend's or out of country and don't know what's around Papa John's is easily the way to go. Nice dough, good ingredients, and I love the standard hot peppers/dipping sauce with every pizza.
As for the customer service, I can't say I've had any worse experiences than any other place. Delivery area, well if you are out of the delivery area you are out of the delivery area. Not sure if that truly reflects on customer service unless they have an unreasonably limited delivery area.

I tried Atlas based on your recommendation and was not impressed. Maybe it was a bad day or something but I won't order from them again.
There are lots of small places in my area of the far NE and I've tried a bunch of them but they are pretty bad. They all seem to try to compete on price but not on quality.

I have never had a bad pizza from Atlas, so you probably just dont like the jig of their pizza. Have you tried supreme pizza in Temple, it's not bad and has very good prices.

yea this is true. having had worked there in previous years, its customer service is not worse than any other, of course ones perception of a pizza place can be dramatically altered due to one or two bad experiences. as for delivery area, i remember papa johns locations in calgary having huge delivery areas, and some areas still didn't get served, of course its probably different now that they have twice as many locations in the city

A couple of weeks ago my wife and I tried pizza at the Pizzaberg Cafe in Okotoks. It was very good but the lineup to get into the place was horrendous. They have a very small seating capacity.
Another problem is that their hours aren't very good. Basically they close in the evening at whatever time they want if business is slow. I doubt they are open past 9:00 pm most evenings and on Sunday they aren't open at all.
Anybody have any recommendations on another good pizza place in Okotoks with better hours?

Have you tried Mr. Schnapps up in the NE? They are near the TransCanada mall.
I haven't eaten there in a number of years but when I did their pizza was pretty good.
I know the pizza at Mr. Schnapps in Shaughnessy is still pretty good. I still go there once in a while for dinner.

My beef with most chain pizza, including Papa John's is that it is too oily. The crust gets soggy from it..............nasty.
That is why I like to pick up my pizza instead of getting it delivered. It spends less time sitting and soaking up oil....
Also, is anyone aware of a pizza place that cooks their pepperoni so that it is a bit crispy on the edges? I love that..............(drool)

For a decent slice of pizza downtown at lunch, try "Flavour me Pizza" on 8th st between 4th and 5th (?) ave. It's across from one of the apartments with the blue tops.
Two slices and a pop for $7 on Mondays and Fridays. The slices are a good size.

Bumping a slightly older thread ... Hockey season is almost here! It means its time to start ordering pizza again!
Since last season, we've moved from the pizza oasis in the SW to the extreme NW of the city. There seems to be nothing but Chains within any distance close enough to get home with hot pizza.
Someone mentioned Red Rock in Crowfoot? What is it like? Do they do takeout?
Someone also mentioned Matadors in Varsity? Where exactly? If it has a good route home, maybe I could get home within 15 minutes. What is this pizza like?
Are there any good places in Royal Oak or Tuscany?
How about Cochrane? I can be there and back in 15 minutes. Back in the early 90's, there was a decent place that my friend delivered for, but I cant remember the name at all. There must be one or two decent places in Cochrane.
Help me! I need suggestions! It will be an epic FAIL if I am eating Delissio in October!

Red Rock is really good, they put a ton of toppings on it (especially on the meatsa pizza) my GF's step-dad wont buy anything but red rock pizza.
Matadors is very good as well - lots of cheese. A similar pizza place is in silver springs called Mittilinis who I think has the best pizza in Calgary. I think they are owned by the same person but I could be wrong.
Not much in Royal Oak or Tuscany besides the big chains (dominos is in Tuscany right by the Sobeys). Ive heard the last staw's pizza isnt great but Ive never tried it.

Matadors is certainly popular - ok pizza. Varsity Drive, just east of Shagannappi (by the Shell station). Peking Garden next door is one of the finest chinese joints in the city.
Cochrane - I think there is a Nick's there.

If you feel like a short drive to pick it up, try Al's Pizza in Ranchlands, that place is fantastic.
