Surprised it hasn't been mentioned (or at least I didn't see it) but my personal favourite is the Sour Dough Jack from Jack in the Box.
Close second for me is Double Fat Boy from Junior's in Winnipeg. (And before anybody begins the MJ jokes, for some reason every Greek burger place I know of calls their signature burger a Fat Boy. Actually, I'm not sure that makes it any better.)
Best I've ever had was a Wendy's Steakhouse burger- I think it was a special about 2 years ago. Imagine a Baconator, with sauteed mushrooms and all cooked in a Montreal Steak Spice kind of sauce.

I was just in BC last week, and the fast food version of Whitespot has a Cheddar Bacon burger that was, although messy, very good.

Veggie burgers aren't burgers. They're abominations. If god had wanted burgers to be vegetarian, he wouldn't have made meat so damn tasty!

Was at Boogies on the weekend, got the Keiths Burger with Yam fries.
Burger is ok, nothing spectacular though. I will give Boogies one more shot.
Yam fries are the same McCain Yam fires you get at the frozen section. Not the BPs yam fries which are amazing.

There's been several mentions of In & Out, Hardee's and Carl's Jr.... so I thought it would have been one of the burgers mentioned.

I haven't had it in over a decade, but the Ultimate Cheeseburger from Jack in the Box I still crave.
And I tried Fatburger and do not understand the appeal. The whole menu just seemed outrageously expensive and the food wasn't good enough to warrant it. It wasn't bad, just not worth the price they charged. I just got the standard burger, was there a better choice that would sell me on them?

Word x2.
The Ultimate from Jack in the Box is still my favourite but I figured I'd stick to Canadian franchises when I initially posted. If you order a double with curly fries you won't regret it!
I also agree with your Fat Burger comments. Not good.

Whatever they are selling at Boogies is the same thing that McCain sells.

Used to work at A&W way back in the day and while there, perfected the ultimate burger.
Grandpa Burger (3 patties) cooked with extra seasoning salt. On two of the patties put one slice of cheddar each. On the third patty, put mozza cheese. Add maybe 4-5 slices of bacon as well
On the bottom of the bun, put Ranch dressing. On the top of the bun, put Mayo.
No lettuce, tomatoes, onions or any other sauces.
Simply a beautiful burger, and we never paid for them either!
I ordered one a few years ago, and I think with all the extras it was about 12$.
Best Hangover Food Ever!

I used to love the spicy baconator from Wendy's.
My current fave is the A&W Bacon Cheddar Uncle.
I don't really like Harvey's because they used pre-cooked. Or if they don't, they make it taste like that... boo.
Peter's Drive-in is a classic, but I don't think they are great, they are just tradition.
But my favorite place isn't a fast-food per se, it's Tommy Burger on Maclead by Schanks. Good food can be had there for the same price as FatBurger (another decent choice, really good, but not worth the money as much as Tommy).

As mentioned above Cheddar Bacon Uncle Burger is really good.
I tried a Burger at the Sonic drive-in last week while in South Dakota. It was really tasty. Not sure it beats the Uncle burger though.

I haven't been to Tommy Burger, but with that endorsement, my interest in going has been re-kindled.
