Jim Beam is good stuff when you feel like getting loser drunk and seriously punishing yourself for a few days.

Yah wine hangovers hurt, especially white for me, I think it's the extra sugar.
As for your Jim Beam comment, you just described last V-day+long weekend for me

Alley Kat makes some pretty neat stuff. That Pumpkin Pie beer was pretty good, as was the Winter Ale or whatever it was.

Yum, I love the Pumpkin Pie beer! It tastes like liquified desert that makes you drunk. I thought it was supposed to be a seasonal thing, but everytime I go to the liquor store I still see it... so I keep stocking up.
I quite like most of Alley Kat's beers. I think my favourite is the Amber one. The Wrasberry one and the Aprikat one's are okay, but I'm not huge on fruity beers.
Has anyone ever had Amber's Australian Mountain Pepperberry beer? Its kind of a weird taste, but I really like it. I haven't seen it in Calgary yet, but I always pick some up in Edmonton, thats where the brewery is.

I haven't tried the Aprikat or Amber yet...if they're anything like the other ones (other than the Pumpkin Pie one), they'll be good for a few drinks but I don't think I'd be able to drink them all night.
The weird thing about the Pumpkin Pie stuff was that nobody that tried it with me liked it...too me it was awesome, since it tasted like dessert, and I could hammer them back like nobody's business. Which at that moment in time was an important characteristic.
That Pepperberry stuff sounds kinda cool to try.

Beer:
Favorite- cold, sometimes room temperature and full
dislike- empty
The only thing to do with a Corona is pour an an ounce or two of tequila down the neck add a lime slice, cover with thumb and carefully invert then bring back right side up, slowly release thumb and consume..... somewhat quickly.
Rye:
Favorite- Alberta Sipping Springs, Wisers deluxe, Tangle Ridge
dislikes- Canadian Club
Vodka:
Favorite- Belvedere
Blah- Alberta Ice, Russian Prince
Rum
Yum ... Ragged Rock(when in Newfoundland), Bacardi 8
Yuck ... Any white rum,
There are too many red wines that I enjoy to list. I haven't been able to find my favorite in Newfoundland here in Calgary yet. Majella's The Musician... an Australian red that I used to buy by the case at about 16$ per bottle.

When I was living in France I found a beer there called Desperados, which was essentially Corona with tequila and lime in it, except you didn't have to do any of the mixing. And it came in very big bottles. Made for many drunk nights!

Wine hangovers hurt, but one that's a real killer is the hot tub hangover. We spent five hours in mine the other night, and we were drinking Transformers, which are an invention of some of my Rocky Mountain House engineer friends. They're basically a cooler mixed with four shots of rum. I hurt the next day.
Still though, nowhere near as bad as O-Week, where I couldn't lay down without puking, and where I said some not very nice things to the angry Asian bouncer at the Den.
Edit---Woah that sounded way more racist than I intended. What I meant to say was that I was an obnoxious drunk at the bar and wouldn't leave.

I don't think this is true anymore, unless you buy wine kits at Superstore. Good quality kits (about $150 - make 30 bottles) makes very good wine. I know a lot of wine snobs that make and enjoy home made wine. We have had real good luck with all our kits.

Drunk posting is hilarious...half the time I turn on my computer the morning after a hard night and I just read stuff and think to myself, 'wow, that guy is insane...oh man....I cant believe that was me and I wrote that.'
I'm always half tempted to edit it out but I never do because the reactions are always hilariously awesome.
I'm nursing the Scotch hangover today...it is unpleasant.

I guess I've just been bitten by bad homemade wine once too many times. One that seemed innocent made me nauseous after two glasses (with food). My girlfriend's mom makes some pretty heinous batches too, and she uses the expensive, non-superstore kits, so I guess the second caveat of people really knowing what they are doing applies here.
We make ours from the grapes, and my grandfather has been doing it for over 50 years, so I guess I'm a little biased too.

Favourite: Jamesons (the best bottle of booze you can buy for under $30 and better than most $80 scotches, the Irish have perfected whiskey distilling)
Least-favourite: White Rum
