Unfortunately, I think the show is toast. The Friday night time slot of doom will claim another victim.

So many good shows lost over the last few years. Firefly, TSCC, Jericho, possibly dollhouse.
Its going to get tougher to get networks to invest in story arch type shows because viewers won't believe that the shows will survive long enough to get answers.
Lost being the rare exception.

I guess Jericho doesn't fit as it was on CBS, but Fox is like Sci Fi kryptonite. What I don't understand is that NBC keeps pimping Heroes (I admit I've never watched it as I haven't invested the time to watch it or catch up) when by most accounts it blows nowadays.

Near as I can tell, it's being propped up by ever more blatant product placement:
Ando(speaking Japanese): Quick, they're coming--into the Nissan Cube!!
Hiro(in Japanese): Yes--its nimble handling and 1.4-liter engine with variable-valve timing will assist in our escape.
Ando (in Japanese): Now we can save baby Matt Parkman using the four-speed column shift automatic transmission!

Haha good call, I thought it felt like a Hercule Poirot mystery myself.
It was just a matter of time till they come up with this "soul of a dead woman in a new body attends her funeral" story, but I don't think they handled it particularly well, especially the part where she was "finally at peace with everyone" and literally came to the Dollhouse to die for the second time. I'd think that kind of decision would involve a lot more that "oh well here I am, do your thing."
Also Echo goes into a hostile environment without any special skills imprinted in her and her handler is nowhere to be seen as she's being chased by a guy with a chisel and then threatened by a horse needle?
The writing definitely feels all kinds of weak, seems to me Joss just put his name on the project but it seems he's hardly involved, if at all.
It would be a shame if the show gets axed befor we find out what's this Alpha dude all about.

I almost wonder if Joss didn't pull back and start cutting ties when Fox gave grief about the original pilot.
It isn't like he hasn't been down that road before.

Just watched the last four episodes, and I have to say I really liked them all. I like the pacing, as the story evolves pretty fast and they keep covering new ground. However, it's a pretty clear implication that they don't think the show gets extended; better have as much of it done with as you can.
Hope they can come up with some kind of an ending.
Personally I think the shows main problem is the weak supporting cast. I just can't bring myself to care about Sienna and Victor, Topher is way too stereotypical and November is always so obviously a doll that it bothers me. Typical sci-fi problem, weak acting.

I agree. The other actors mostly make Eliza Dushku look like a virtuoso, which is pretty hard to do. Not saying she isn't great and everything, but I wouldn't allow a whole show to rest on her acting ability alone--however, I am seeing that she's a lot better than I remember, in part because of some of the other actors on the show. Tahmoh Penikett is so wooden he makes Pinocchio look like a real boy, Sierra is basically a blank sheet of paper, Victor is maudlin and crappy, and November is doe-eyed and one-dimensional.
I wanted this show to succeed--and there are many things I like about it a lot. But compared to Firefly or Buffy, or even Dr. Horrible, this is clearly not a show you'd rank among Joss Whedon's best work.

What do you expect from Fox? This is the same company that decided Taken wasn't good enough to release in NA. Only after it was released in Europe and Australlia and people saw trailers of it on Youtube did they decide it might be worth it to release in the US.
It made 143 million domestic...they nearly didn't release it and it made 143 million! And then you got the leak of Wolverine a month before it hits theaters debacle...how anyone working for Fox has a job is beyond me.
Anyways, I'm still hoping it's not the end of Dollhouse...I'll even settle for a movie Firefly-Serenity style.

So the season is over (the series possibly as well) and yet no comments on CP?
I thought Alan Tudyk was a breath of fresh air and did his best to make me miss Firefly once again.
I really liked the "twist" at the end where Ballard chose to save November and Echo stayed in the Dollhouse remembering her real name.
All in all, if there's a season 2 I'll be watching, if they ax it - I can't say I'll lose any sleep over it.
Thoughts?

Sadly I wasn't all that enamoured with the Alpha character once they actually bought him into focus.
I had a cerebral but slightly insane brilliant man of many faces type of things.
We got a run of the mill sadistic serial killer with facial ticks.
I like the idea of putting multiple personalities in his head, but sadly it should have been more like a whirling storm of anger and resentment that was switching. Or one uber personality.

you can kind of tell that, ultimately the premise with this was, people jumping bodies. It's been done before, but not with Eliza Dushka, so I watched till the end.

Good news! I think it took a while to get going, but I enjoyed the last half of the season or so. I'll definitely check out another season.

That is great news.
Ever since the 4th episode I have loved this show. But I have been scared that the show was going to get canceled.
This is great news..now I just have to wait 4 months.
