I went to Bora Bora for two weeks and stayed in a hut over the water, probably one of the most surreal places ever.

Definitly one of my favorite places!

Throw in the Inca trails in Peru, and a place called Bol, Croatia as well.

as for cities, I am a HUGE fan of Boston. Very cool vibe in that city.

+1

If you love mountains, it is the place to visit.

Lugano (so far) is my favorite Swiss city.

Tahiti looks like true heaven. Is it expensive for an over-water bungalow?

I enjoyed lucerne and there sweet ass underground mall. That is where I saw the worlds largest dog, I initially thought it was a medium sized horse. Also have to love the cops who carry around machine guns.

Also some wicked model train shops. If are a model train nerd, switzerland and germany are the place to go.

There is no place in switzerland where I didnt feel 100% safe, like I could walk around with 100 Euro bills taped to my clothes and no one would take any of them.

Also, +1 to the 4 foot long toberlerone bar.

That would most likely be Rothenberg (ob der Tauber)
Pretty much perfect medieval European town.

I mean, it was fairly expensive, but the bulk of the cost for the trip was definitely the flight. Fly into LA, get off go onto another airline, fly 9 hours to Tahiti, get off, get on a turbo prop and fly an hour to Bora Bora. Also, food and drink are so ridiculously expensive there.

I've done quite a bit of travelling and I find very few spots can compare to the Okanagan Valley in the summer.

Definately, how could I miss Switzerland ... one of my favourite places in the world, and a dream to live there.

I've had the good fortune to visit some amazing places in my life, Bora Bora, Rarotonga, Australia, Central America, Paris, London - but for my money, there isn't anywhere better than the summit of Lake Louise on a blue-bird day.

Damn, so jealous. Bora Bora is priority #1 vacation spot. It's just other stupid priorities, like a house and wedding, that keep getting in the way

I'm trying to plan a trip of sorts and part of me wants to do something adventurous like that rather than a typical all inclusive beach resort type thing.

Whats the best way to go about that? I've been checking out www.gapadventures.com who provide some tour packages of some interesting places. Are they worth it? Is it better to just plan out your own trip piece by piece?
