That is quite a laundry list of good things to happen. It seems that if any team, KC or Pitt included, had those things happen they would make the play-offs.
Also, not sure if you are referring to luck or the whole list of things but TB and Boston were successful last year because they had good teams, full of talent and were well built. The Jays do not have those things.

I just don't see how, right now, the Jays have the personnel that it is possible, but the I am not a big fan of the Jays.

I agree........I am fan of the Jays and I personally believe the Jays are going to be in the bottom part of the league next year with their current strategy.
If the Jays stay status quo they are going to have a tough season.

So is Caged Great
Umm, with Rogers passing, does that loosen the payroll or tighten it up?

I would guess it makes it much less likely that we get a big ticket signing, but it probably doesn't affect it much.
About 2/3 the Jays front office staff got canned after he passed, and the christmas party was canceled. I'm guessing that's not the start of a throw-money-at-it business model.
RIP Ted.

Mets agreed to terms with K-Rod on a three-year, $37MM deal plus a fourth year, $14MM option.

Looks like Burnett to the Yankees will happen. They told him they will do better then the 4 year/60 M offer that Atlanta offered.

The Yankees are also the "use them to drive up my price" team, so I'm never sure.

An agreement has been reached to send Hernandez to Cincy for Freel and two prospects ( Brandon Waring and Justin Turner ). The Orioles are sending over $1MM, so the deal requires approval of the commissioner's office.

Why did the Blue Jays signed AJ Burnett for 5 years then after the 3rd year he is bolting out? Whatever happen to a contract? I mean why did the Jays allow this crap at the beginning. If you are going to sign for 5 years, honour your contract and play for that team for 5 years NOT 3 years. He wasn't that good in his first 2 years then suddenly he decided to show up in his 3rd year and play well. That is probably because he is selling himself again. I hope the Yankees sign him for 5 years then play crappy the first 2 seasons as well (injuries and inconsistency). Then in his 3rd year when he is supposed to play well to himself, he plays crappy again.

AJ negotiated the right to void the contract and he did. He did not break the terms, nor the spirit, of the contract.
If we did not offer him that void-able option, we never would have signed him.

So is this another "rebuilding" year for the Jays, becuase if it is, you've gotta wonder what Doc has to say about that. Poor guy is a beast, and will be stuck on an average team for another year.
