I saw the first 3 movies at the theatre on their original runs. My take on these movies is I can suspend my disbelief for a whole lot (in Raiders, he rode on the top of a submarine - I guess it never submerged), but the reason I thought Temple of Doom the worst was the railcar jumping the abyss and landing on the tracks. That was just a bit too much. Good movie, but it just required a bit too much.
I was OK with this installment until the spaceship took off. The spaceship killed it for me. That makes this the worst of the franchise. I liked Indy. I heard Harrison Ford did his own stunts, but there seemed to be a lot of concealing camera angles so I really question that, but it doesn't matter too much. I was really glad they brought Marion back. The little references to previous movies sprinkled throughout was nice. I thought the filming( angles used, use of shadows, etc) was generally great. The story telling was poorer earlier films; the flow was much slower and there didn't seem to be as much discovery. And I didn't buy into Shia - his whole combing the hair shtick was weak.
I'll give it a 6/10
