On that note - I recently stood in line behind Rick Bell and he is the most annoying jackass I have ever met. He was talking about how he had to pay for parking at a hospital and how it should be free for him because he was in the media and it was stupid abd that he better be given a voucher so he don't have to pay. Just a guy that seemed completely full of himself. Granted I am not a fan of his writing either so maybe I am biased.

Any renderings of the building from the opposite side (south side)? I'm curious to see how the shape looks from that angle.

^But of course. This one has the completed Eighth Avenue Place (both phases) and a few other forthcoming projects in it too. You may notice a certain (speculated) Flames-related project on the far right as well.

What is that development around the Saddledome? Just a random guess on a new arena, or something else?

One more repost of CtrlAltDel's work and I'll stop for the night. In this one, some has been built, I think it's from about ~2007/2008. Some of the projects may never get built, but have been proposed at some point.

That gif would be much more awesome if it was the Calgary Tower doing the disappearing/reappearing act.

And do you have any info on those (condo?) buildings that appear in front of Talisman Center? The one looks quite a bit taller than the Bow.

^ It was merely a rumoured development on the site south of the Elbow River Casino. Turns out the land owner did a feasibility study with some mega density and height with a project called "constellation". Won't ever be built at that height, but I hear plans are in the works for those lands.

^It is a development called "Constellation" and is on the parking lots between the Elbow River Casino. Almost assuredly will never get built. Speculation is that the owners of the site (investment group from Vancouver I believe) were just playing around with maxing out some of the zoning and technical limits of the site.

When the above rendering was done, the artist had just heard some heights of buildings at the time and came up with some placeholders for the animated gif rendering above. There has since been some "official" renderings released. Here they are:





Again, important to note that this is extremely unlikely to actually get built.

They look bloody fantastic, but Calgary would never do it.

The one is like 3 times the height of the Bow from the picture.

I really hope they make it, but the chances are probably in the 0.0001% (am I right sky scraper nerds?)
