Great signings for decent amounts. JP gets some respect back...

"Second baseman Aaron Hill inked a $12-million, four-year contract that starts this season and contains options for 2012, 2013 and 2014. The options are not year-to-year — the Blue Jays must extend him for either one season at $8 million, two at $16 million, or three at $24 million"
So basically the Jays decide at the end of year 4 what to do with Hill.

+1. Solid signing on Rios, and a steal on Hill.

Makes that Wells extension look even worse.

Great contract. There is a good chance that after the next 3 years Aaron Hill will be worth 8 million a season, maybe even more. If he is, then the jays get to keep him. If not, Sayonara...no harm no foul.
Brilliant.

Marcum throwing extremely well right now, 4 IP, 1 hit, 0 BB, 3 K.
Wakefield is matching him though, and its 0-0 in the bottom of the 4th.

Nice that Alomar says he will go in to the HOF as a Jay, should he be selected.

Jays win. Another quality start, just the one mistake to JD Drew unfortunately. Hurt with the biggest hit of the game - a big 2 out double. Great to see a sell out at the Skydome. Great game.

The Jays pitching is absolutle money right now.
4 games against the heavyweights New York and Boston, and we've allowed 3,2,3,3 runs per game in that order. Our offense isnt blowing anyone away, but with pitching like that against the best teams in the division we should be able to win a lot of games. I hope that continues.

Marcum made one mistake that game... 1!! and it cost him huge. The walk to Ortiz is fine, the bloop by Lowell is fine..
But he threw back to back inside pitches to Drew and left the 2nd pitch over the inside of the plate even more than the first one. That, is an absolute no-no.
That 2nd comeback pitch (if you throw the same pitch) can never be more 'hittable' than the first when you aren't really a "stuff guy" like Marcum (his changeup is his only real superb pitch), his cutter is just average, but needed.
He still got the W, but shouldn't have given up any.

Great atmosphere at the Rogers Centre tonight (from watching on TV). Love the retro uniforms.

Yep, great atmosphere in the Dome tonight.......wish every game had that kind of crowd.
4 pretty solid pitching starts to start the season. A shame Marcum threw that one right where Drew wanted it, otherwise it was a very nice performance.
Scutaro looking like a nice depth player.......not a lot of holes in the lineup right now, will be even better when Rolen returns.

Pitching could be great if we stay healthy. That being said I'm still not convinced by the bats. Only time will tell. With the jays pitching this year the team should be 4-0.

Is this the year the Jays unseat one of the boSox or Yankees to make the post season?
I think their pitching just might get them there this year if they don't have any major injuries.

Jays explode in the 6th.
Thomas just powered home his first jack of the season to make it 10-2

Wow, the Jays are looking great to start the season. The pitching has not allowed more than 3 runs all year, and it was nice to see the offense really step up here today to lay a lickin' on the Red Sox. McGowan, Marcum, and even Litsch have looked really good in their first starts.

They keep this up and it's going to be one hell of a fun year to watch the Jays.
I don't expect them to hold teams to 3 runs or less every game, but just like a goaltender in hockey......just give your team a chance to win.
Love seeing some of the small ball being played early on this season........not only is it working, but it also keeps other teams on their toes not knowing what to expect.

Big Hurt with the grand salami to put the Jays up 6-2!
Both the pitching and the offense looking good early this season. Hopefully they can keep it up.
