Ugh, Dane Cook's part was just a minor failure contributing to the immensely tragic overall experience that was Dan In Real Life - which failed completely on every level. I thought it was worse than Good Luck Chuck, and I tend to agree that Good Luck Chuck wholly deserves its 3% meta-rating.
Mr. Brooks was good fun. Forgot Dane Cook was in it, though... but not that Demi Moore is!
He's got some good jokes as well as some bad ones, and whether good or bad the guy generates a lot of attention. I'm not a fan of his movies at all though.

Here's one of my favorite jokes of his.

Let's call a spade a spade. I found him annoying especially the ADD start, and then the sound effects toward the end, but the punchline to finish the video made me laugh out loud.
He has moments, but I think the setup to the punchline could have been setup and delivered far far far better than it was.

I don't particularly like him, but he is very animated and charismatic on stage. He's not so much funny as he is "fun"... even if a little douchy.
I remember a few years ago, people used to say the same thing about Jim Carey. It's a generational thing... If you were 21 or younger when Jim Carey first started making movies, you probably would have liked him, but I bet your parents didn't. They probably saw him as a Jerry Lewis rip-off.
Too each their own I guess. To me, George Carlin was one of the most overrated comedians ever. His jokes are like "Andy Rooney-isms" but with foul language. To many others, he was the best of all time.

I think if they showed the whole scene with the guy sneezing and stuff in that clip youd like the set up better. If you want a good example of good dane cook check out the Vicious Circle (the routine that clip is from.) Hes in the boston gardens (where hes from) and he kills it.

The logic of joke sucked. If he came back as a tree, he was right and the bible was wrong. So what's the point of printing the bible on him?
I'll admit there is the ODD thing of Dane Cook's that makes me laugh(actually just one thing so far; that bit about eating the communion was good stuff). Not enough that I'll ever change my stance that he's a dousche, but I can see why some like him. Nevertheless, I feel the need to pump up the dude who's jokes he allegedly stole, Louis CK. It's way too vulgur to post directly on here, but do yourself a favour, go to youtube, and write in Louis CK: The Saddest H***job in America(but write the actual word).
Ricky Gervais didnt declare him the funniest comedian in America for nuthin...

I never really found Jim Carey funny. Or Robin Williams. Or Adam Sandler. I guess the try-too-hard to be funny just annoys me. The random funny to be funny, if you will. I perfer the witty but calm well thought out comedy to be funny, like Kelsey Grammer or Jerry Seinfield comedy (I enjoy Russell Peters too) or such humour in TV shows like Studio 60 (but I don't like Family Guy)

Just curious why don't you like Family Guy (I'm not criticizing you btw..) I think my appreciation for Dane probably doesn't have much to do with his stand-up, of which I have seen very little, He just seems approachable,or maybe he reminds me of guys I;ve met who were approachable. Tough to say.
- take a drink every time you see a piece of fruit
- take a drink every time you see boobs (we'd pause the DVD during some scenes to ensure proper count)
- take a drink every time Cam has an accident
- take a drink every time someone says "penguin"
- take a drink every time Dane Cooke makes a weird noise
- take a drink every time Dane Cooke is needlessly loud
- take a drink every time Dane Cooke is repetitive
Got a nice buzz on after an hour and a half

That was one of his funniest jokes? Once again, how the f does this guy have a career in comedy?

His jokes appeal to the lowest common denominator, because he can animate them for those that don't get the joke. And if that doesn't turn your crank then HE CAN YELL HIS JOKE REALLY LOUD SO YOU UNDERSTAND HIM. And if all else fails, he can make a really funny face that we can all laugh at and feel comfortable relating to.
That video was nothing but annoying, it's sad that we're even talking about this guy. He's like Paris Hilton, there's just no redeeming qualities that justify the celebrity status.
I saw this thread pop back up and immediately I thought "please please let this be an anncouncement of Dane retiring or at least he's got a vocal injury in a horrible accident and can't attempt jokes anymore". Alas, I was disappointed.
