I'm not too sure of my schedule the next few weeks. This Sunday out, and next few weekends aren't looking too much better either.

Too funny. I found this after I posted.
Due to my crappy work schedule, weekends are out for me right now. That's why slo pitch is played in the summer, right? Anyhew, I'm hoping to have more weekends free for stuff like this in the future.

Excellent. And to all the others that have so far replied, awesome.
I am not adverse to holding a scrimmage BOTH days either. So for all that want to partake, if there is enough interest, I will do both.

saturday next week might work out well.... but to be honest I have YOGA and poker lined up. So Poker is manly, yoga is not. I need some scrapes from softball to get the equation back to the masculine side haha.

Ok I am going to update the list.... anyone else who wants in please submit now, as I will start to look around for leagues to join. If anyone has any good leagues, or sees any advertisements for leagues, jot down the number and give it to me or call them and let me know you have done that.
I saw a road-side sign today, but I didn't grab the number. Maybe tomorrow when I leave home.
Let's find a league!

Perhaps as well as asking gender you should ask prospective players what area of the city they would be willing to play in. Could narrow down your 23 ish in a hurry if some are unwilling to cross the city to play. Just a thought.

ok as per Aeneas suggestions, I would like everyone who signed up, or is wanting to sign up from now on, so fill out this:
1) gender:
2) will you have another player with you? what gender?
3) what area of town do you live in, and is distance a deal-breaker? (if yes, maybe we can get a north team and a south team or something)
4) are you willing to share the costs of joining the league? (this must be made clear upfront...I can't afford to float a whole team! we'll probably need bases, balls, bats, etc). Also beer.
5) other

1. M
2. If needed, yes. M or F
3. SW. No
4. Yes
May I suggest a question for number 5?
5) What night(s) would you commit to/ or prefer? (bearing in mind there are leagues that play the same night, and those that play different nights each week)
5. M, T, Th, Su. Prefer Su.

1. M
2. Yes, F (confirmed)(we've already decided we're joining a team together this season, just don't know which one)
3. S. I'd definitely prefer not to trek to the deep NW or NE.
4. Yes
5. prefer sunday because my weekdays can get hairy. If we ended up on a weekday team I wouldn't be able to guarantee attendance.
Is anyone a pitcher? I've always played outfield or SS.

Just did a little googling and I found the league I used to ply in. It's called NSA. There is a sunday league that I'm awaiting call back on.
IIRC, we played 2 games every sunday and it usually started between 2 and 4 and finished roughly 3-4 hours later. It was in the NE and SE (forest lawn and marlborough) which is roughly equidistant for people coming from all extremes of the city. I would totally be willing to do this again even though I'm as far south as is possible in this city.
The league was recreational. We only encountered one team that was hell bent on winning. Easy going beer league style.
I can't remember the policy on long weekends. I don't recall it interfering with my camping addiction... I do recall many a sunday that started out with a round of golf, turned into a couple games of ball and finished off at a BPs.
If it turns out that there are a few of us that really like to put em back, we can figure out a DD system too. Or we can pay my brother to taxi us around...

My answers...
1. M
2. No
3. Deep south, but location is not an issue, as I work a bit south of downtown. Can get almost anywhere easily.
4. Yes. This shouldn't even be a question, really. Anyone interested in playing should be expecting to pay the costs of getting the team in the league.
5. Free and clear in the summer. Any day is good.
6. Position: last time I played on a rec-softball league, I played every position but pitcher. Basically, I can play in any spot, but I do not play well in any spot.

1. F
2. No
3. Doesn't matter... transit will take me anywhere and I live almost right downtown.
4. Yes, but how much is this gonna set me back?
5. I really have no idea what my schedule will look like in the summer.
6. I can hit the ball pretty good on the Wii. Other than that, it's been a while. We'll have to see what I'm good at.

Well, let's see...
1) M
2) Doubt it
3) Live NE, work by Chinook, so anywhere around/between during the week is fine. On the weekend I can drive wherever, but prefer not to go deep SW.
4) Yes.
5) Any day of the week should be fine.
6) Can play most positions, but prefer infield due to issue with knee.

1) gender: dude
2) will you have another player with you? what gender? no
3) what area of town do you live in, and is distance a deal-breaker? (if yes, maybe we can get a north team and a south team or something) Coventry Hills... north central Calgary
4) are you willing to share the costs of joining the league? (this must be made clear upfront...I can't afford to float a whole team! we'll probably need bases, balls, bats, etc). Also beer. I can share costs. I will also approach my employer regarding some sponsorship bucks but don't hold your breath.
5) preferred night:I have no preference as to night but weekday evenings would probably work better for me. As well, my wife will be going back to work at the end of February so until then I have no idea what her schedule will be like. Once we figure that out, I'll have a better which night works best.
6) position: Back in tha day I took pride in being able to competently cover all positions. These days, not so sure...

1) gender: Male
2) will you have another player with you? what gender? unknown but probably not
3) what area of town do you live in, and is distance a deal-breaker? (if yes, maybe we can get a north team and a south team or something) Copperfield, not to much of an issue unless it is like crowfoot all of the time. leaned that lesson from summer hockey
4) are you willing to share the costs of joining the league? (this must be made clear upfront...I can't afford to float a whole team! we'll probably need bases, balls, bats, etc). Also beer: Yes
5) Schedule flexible, except for saturday nights as I have ball hockey and would prefer no saturday day games as I do work some saturdays
Played everywhere before, cant slo pitch as I found out in corporate challenge
