Let me clarify that a bit.

YNaT, Madman, myself and 4X4 are all driving along- one behind each other. Madman is a safe distance behind and sees you brake, and starts to brake. myself, I am closer to Madman so I have to brake harder. 4X4 is just as close to me as I was to Madman, so he really has to jam on the brakes. Meanwhile Redvan comes up behind all of us, sees the sudden stops we are making, and changes lanes into the one beside the pulled over cop.

Now you have a risk of a rear ender several cars behind you, and you have made the cop have to start to watch traffic that is changing lanes into the one beside him.

Yes, that's why I drive with those people in mind, like I said.

All of you are making WAY too big a deal out of this.

Well, the bottom line is we all see people doing "silly" things behind the wheel- every day. But there's nothing we can do about it at that point. Now we have a friend tell us about themselves doing something that we disagree with, so here's our chance to correct said friend.

We aren't trying to gang up on you; it's just that you are the one person with a contrary opinion; and one that could end up getting somebody hurt.

Sure, I can see with the way I see see many people driving on the road, if they were doing what I say, it could make the road a lot more dangerous. People do not realize how unsafe they can make the highway when they drive too slow (often thinking they are safeer because they are drving slower) especially for extended periods of time. What you said about each person having to jam on the brakes a little more is often true. The biggest thing is people who pull into the left lane to pass someone and then go only about 1 km/h faster then the vehicle in the right lane - meanwhile, a huge backup can form behind them where too many cars are too close together. That's why if I'm passing someone, if someone is closing in on me to pass me, I speed up (it really doesn't have to be a lot) to avoid creating a backlog. I have a theory that many accidents are caused because someone ahead was going too slow. Of course, the accident almost never involves the driver who was going too slow, nor will they ever know what they had a hand in causing.
