So?
Nuclear development is going to be 'very' important in the near future. Just because people like YOU have a problem with it....doesn't mean the gains they make now won't benefit us down the road when our society is practically forced to turn to nuclear power because of environmental reasons.
40 billion is a small piece of a multi-trillion dollar economy.
Kinda dumb that you think cite out 'nuclear development' as a funding that could instead be given to the 'poor' people living in the US. How many billions was 'given' to the poor people living in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina...and how many billions was wasted? How many trillions have we stuck in Africa....to those poor people, and how much was wasted?
Money doesn't suddenly solve poverty. Nor will shutting down an important develop such as nuclear energy suddenly provide money to fight poverty.
They US has so much pork in every budget its ridiculous. Not only could they balance the budget if they cut it.....they could probably start up some programs with incentive for the lower class in America to climb up the ladder.
