I was going to say the same thing. You get one crappy candy, and they run out by 6:30. No spooky decorations for the most part. Parents taking the easy way out.
3 people in my office were going to take their kid to the mall. One of them left at noon so that she could start trick or treating with her 6 y/o daughter at 2:00.

Here in Stanley Park (in Calgary) we tripled our kids from last...yes we went from 1 to 3 kids. Very weak considering the number of kids I see in the neighbourhood and how warm it was.
Although 1 of the kids scared the crap out of me when he fell down our stairs headfirst (5 concrete, metal framed stairs). His mom came running to grab him and of course he was crying. I quickly went down the stairs to see if he was ok (with a bowl full of chocolate) and as soon as I asked him if he wanted some more candy he stopped crying and had a big smile. Kids + Chocolate = Indestructible ;-)

So, I brought in all my extra candy (the small bars) to work today. To make sure everybody knows they are welcome to take it, I put a little sign up beside the candy dish:

I had to fight for my right to buy candy this year. Last year we had 0 kids come by (first year in our house) so we ended up eating the candy ourselves. This year the girlfriend didn't want to buy any because she didnt want to end up eating it, and she didn't figure any kids would come this year either. I told there were a lot of kids in the neighbourhood now, and convinced her that we needed to get some chocolate bars.
I had one trick or treater, and now I have about 60 "fun-sized" (what's so fun about a small chocolate bar? Fun sized should mean bigger) chocolate bars to get down before the Christmas candy shows up. I'm game for it though.

I got 25-30 in Coventry Hills, I thought I'd get way more as it's a fairly young community.

I had to work last night but apparently we had around 100 kids.. We dressed our dogs up (one as Jarome Iginla, one as Trevor Linden), but the one thing I noticed most about last night was how much the kids shopping for school supplies at 6:30 last night stuck out like a sore thumb..

Sundance had barely anyone. There was this drunk group of teenage girls that weren't even dressed up except for a bunch of glo-sticks. They came to our house twice and took all our candy because no one else was showing up. I was in Douglasdale earlier that night and there were wayyy more kids there. I was with my litte neice and nephew, but they were all begging to go home after just 45 minutes.
Too bad the Halloween just isn't the same anymore--I do miss that Charlie Brown special.

A very, very vague childhood memory of mine. One of my earliest memories actually, but it is very cloudy. Can anybody give me a bit of a plot run down about that show to see if I can jog anything loose in my brain?

Had 50 here in London, first year in this house. In my old townhouse it went from 120, 90, 65 in the 3 years that I lived there. I used to go out at 6:00 and I wouldn't be home until 9:00 at the earliest other than to grab a new pillow case. Beddington Heights never had more than one house on a given street with the lights out. I feel sorry for kids these days.

Why can't I get the drunk teenage girls with strategically placed glow sticks come to my house asking for candy?
(And I'm making the assumption that because they were drunk, they were obviously over 18.)

Haha I was gonna say the same thing. I'd be pumped if I got a bunch of Mr. Noodles Cup O' Soups, I love those things!
On a side note, we got around 25-30, which is alot more than last year. We live in a neighbourhood with alot of kids, but we live in a cul-de-sac, and for some reason kids seem to avoid those. I could hear kids off in the distance yelling "Trick or Treat!" all night, but it was relatively quiet at our place.

Hahaha I live in Edmonton for school and two years ago; my first year here, I did that too. Didnt hear any smarmy comments either. In fact the only thing I heard was one kid say "Go Flames Go!". I was especially surprised when I left the pumpkin out all weekend on my front porch and it somehow survived, I thought for sure itd be in pieces on the road(actually I was kinda hoping for that, just for a chuckle). The Battle of Alberta isnt what it used to be...

I went to a hockey game and left my family to handle the trick or treaters - all four of them.

It may be easy for you, but I can barely pull off cutting out a mouth and eyes. So take the compliment when you get it.
