This is due to the well known affliction dubbed TRD or "Trench Run Disease" in which large vessels are known to be at a disadvantage to numerous smaller ones.

I broke up with a girl because she used "seen" all the time.
"Yeah, I seen him the other day"
Argggg!! Annoyed me so much - but I'm shallow and kind of a jerk.

The apostrophe thing drives me nuts.
Where do people learn this stuff? It's amazing, the grammatical phenomenon seemingly appeared out of the ether, with zero founding in English language grammar.
I seriously question a person's intelligence when I see "oreo's" or "thousand's".
And no it is not like a simple typo. Or even there/their/they're, because at least that error has confusion as its root. The apostrophe thing has only mass ignorance to blame.
It really is shocking and I cringe every time I see it.

Haha, I wish... its just a random image that floats around the net.. I have no clue what the actual image was originally. It just looks too ridiculous to be real aside from the obvious photoshopped words... An old school army guy with a monacle? It's just wierd.

I have a question!
Do any of you believe that with the computer we are becoming lazy in our spelling and grammar? Do we allow the computer to catch our mistakes?
To obtain my certificate I had to write a 4 hour case study by hand. I am the first to admit I do not like to hand write anything more than a sentence or 2. Why because I have always had messy hand writing and I always will, plus spelling has not always been one of my strong points.
I like to use the computer so that when I am expected to produce a report for work, or for school, I let Word catch my basic mistake while I concentrate on ideas and what I am presenting. Should we not be using the tools we have available, e.g. the computer/Word. I firmly believe I should be graded on my presentation, thoughts and flow vs. if I spelt a word correctly or not.

I can tell you're using Word for this post. Because your font is all f--ked up where you pasted it into the message box. You have to set your User CP to "basic editor" for a cut and paste to be displayed properly.
To answer your question - computers help with spelling, but are causing the death of grammar. There's a reason that so many people use loose instead of lose and don't catch it. It's spelled right, but used incorrectly - a classic computer "reliance" mistake.

The army guy is Colonel Klink from Hogans Heroes.
I agree that computers help with spelling and are killing grammar, for exactly the reasons that Flashpoint said.
I do find it interesting to watch the evolution of language with relation to the computer though. All the new words, terms and slang being invented in online communities are neat to follow.
