Hitmen completely dominated Moose Jaw. Probably their most complete game of the season, and the type of game you would expect from a team supposedly in the top ten in the country. The Warriors' goalie sure made it interesting though.
Interesting on Clark getting fired, but not really a surprise. I imagine he will bounce back somewhere as soon as he is interested.

He sure did, hadn't seen him play since the Vancouver/Moose Jaw final a couple years ago.

Ouch. Only 9 shots for the Rebels in Vancouver last night in a 5-1 loss. It really is tough sledding for this team this season. Lot's of one goal losses though which could turn around as less mistakes are made. I think most Red Deer fans, myself included, are accepting this season for what it is, a rebuilding year to end all years.

The kid in goal, Clark, was solid though it could have been a lot worse.

Hitmen just pile onto Seattle tonight, but once again the opposition goaltender makes it look closer than it was. 3-0 Hitmen win in a game where they had a 29-8 edge in shots at one point.

So, a week after Chilliwack steals BCHL scoring leader Evan Pighin from Salmon Arm, The Giants announce they've signed Casey Pierro-Zabotel, who had 116 points last season with the Merritt Centennials. Word is he'll be in the lineup tomorrow night against the Bruins..

Interesting decisions by those kids. I would imagine if they were top scorers in the BCHL, they had a shot at going to the Dub before, but declined. Presumably to retain NCAA eligibility.
Its interesting to see how many kids are passing up on American college right now. T.J. Galliardi and Keith Seabrook both bailed on the NCAA to join the Hitmen.

Well Pighin was with the Rebels last season until getting traded to Prince George. He refused to report there though and ended up in the BCHL. The Rebels could sure have used him this season.

Pierro-Zabotel has been on the Giants protected list since the 2005-06 season, but was trying to get an NCAA scholarship.
He was set to suit up for Michigan Tech but his grades weren't good enough so he had to stay in Merritt.
Pighin had something like 21 goals in 24 games or the other way around this year with Salmon Arm.

Hitmen are finally starting to show why they were a top ranked team to start the season... 6-1 win over Moose Jaw last night. No goaltending heroics for the Warriors this time.

Don Hay gave CPZ a TON of ice-time last night, reminds me a big of Lucic, a big hulking skater who kinda hangs around the slot. Giants beat the Bruins 2-1 in OT last night over 10,000 on hand even though the Canucks had a home game.. That said, the Giants draw a different kind of crowd altogether, and I gotta say I enjoy it a lot more when there are a bunch of people in the building.
Also, they put a nice new row of lights in the far side of the Coliseum (penalty box side), which is nice for folks like me (seasons are on that side) 'cause it REALLY brightens up the place, there aren't nearly as many shadows.

Yeah, I've heard from some Giants fans in the past that the fan bases really don't mix out there - for the most part, you are either a Canucks fan or a Giants fan. Completely the opposite of Calgary, where most Hitmen fans are Flames fans first.
And agreed on the big crowd games. Especially in an NHL or former NHL rink. One of the reasons why I can't wait for the Teddy Bear game out here.
Hitmen win again tonight, 2-1 over Saskatoon. Still only one point back of Lethbridge, who are on a ridiculous 12-0-1 streak right now. Wish they would hurry up and come back to Earth.

Watched LET play last night, they looked pretty impressive, from the top line right down to the throwback uniforms..
Hehe maybe they just need to play my Ice a couple times to cool off a bit!

One can only hope. The Hurricanes are a good team, but I do think they are playing well above themselves right now. They will come back to earth.
Meanwhile, Calgary wins in a shoot out in Speedy Creek last night, to take seven of eight points in a four game Saskatchewan road trip. Next up: Edmonton on Friday.

Well the Blazers clean house and stop sucking arse. They're 6-1-1 since the shakeup and have won 4 straight. What's the story with Ellerby...top 10 draft pick but his numbers are terrible this year and his first team had a 6-9-1 record when he's there...than the team he goes to loses 6 straight?

Hitmen kick the crap out of Edmonton tonight, but only win 5-3. Shots were 55-17 Calgary, and the only reason Edmonton even reached double digits is how out of control the Hitmen were on the penalty kill.
Archibald was pretty damn good tonight.

Hitmen once again completely dominate their opponent, but once again completely lack finish. 2-0 win over Red Deer, with the shots 49-15 for the Hitmen. 104 shots in two games, and only seven goals. Yikes!
J.D. Watt's influence certainly is rubbing off on the Rebels. They just embarrassed themselves in the third after Calgary went up 1-0. Esposito inexplicably got a roughing minor for what was one of the most blatant attempts to injure I have seen in a long time - came from half way across the ice to lay a wicked two handed cross check to the back of the neck of a prone player two feet from the boards. All in the name of "revenge" for a big, clean, hit that Galliardi threw on Strong.
Following that, Polak gets a major and game for crushing a Hitman player - Rowinski, iirc - into the boards nowhere near the play. Probably the first legitimate interference major I've ever seen.
Embarrassing performance by Red Deer all around.

Reimer played well though so it wasn't all embarrassing. JD Watt needs to go. Not impressed at all with the guy.
