It would be strategic becuase it would pollute all the heavy that feeds the Rainbow Pipeline, and kill the massive projects that are on various companies books. It would cut off a large artery of crude the upper midwest.

Peace River isn't the most security sensitive areas so it would be relatively speaking, easy pickings.

If that was the case we should be stopping all production of oil and gas right now.

Why would a nuclear plant in Alberta would be any more/less a target than any other nuclear plant in Canada or the US or Britain?
There are few better reasons that the threat of terorism. and O&G production and the utilization of radio active material are two completely different things. If a oil facility is attached, you wreck a oil facility. If you manage to leak radioactive material you wreck every project for many miles, possibly hundreds of miles downstreams.

Nukes may make sense, but not in Alberta.

No it wouldn't, it would be really, really stinky. And not even that stinky for Cgy since it is upwind.

A nuke would pollute the ground for hundred's of years. what is in the ground is our largest and most important asset, farting around with it's security because people are bummed about the cost of space heating their 2500 sq foot house.

So in what way could you attack a CANDU reactor in order to get it to leak radioactive material? How much material could be leaked? What's the maximum potential risk?

EDIT: And isn't H2S fatal at fairly low concentrations?

I sure hope we don't go against nuclear because we're scared terrorists are going to target us.
