a few weeks ago during stampede... we arrived at 39 ave station and there were some pretty y out of towners trying not to let anyone onto the train cause it was pretty full, however these people eventually managed to get on the train. i was stomach to stomach with quite a large man and him and one of the out of towners were just looking at each other (or at least it looked like but the out of towner had sunglasses on and later claimed he wasn't even looking at him). anyways they had a stare down and my stomach partner seemed to find it necessary to start a fight so he wound his arm up, elbowed me in the face and tried to punch this out of towner and a little brawl started 6 inches from me. idiots

Don't take this personal but you are on public transit afterall,i'm not a smoker but if i was and a stranger told me to quit because he could smell it on my cloths in a public place i'd tell him to f*** himself. If he kept it up i'd have a smoke ready as soon as the train stopped and blow a big one in his face.
As for the bikes, did you ever think the people with bikes have another long travel that the train doesn't go to? or maybe he's a bike courier by trade.
IMO this stuff is getting out of hand, bad enough the smokers had to stop smoking in public places like bars and patios now poeple want them to put on fresh clothes after a smoke. I feel like were turning communist.
Maybe save up for a car and you wouldn't have to put up with smelly people and someone running over your foot with a 10lb bicycle and since you love clean air make sure its a hybrid.

Well, first of all it's illegal to bring a bike on the train during rush hour- for a reason. A bike takes up a lot of space; and as almost everybody has agreed upon; space is the biggest issue on the train.
And I fail to see where he mentions a tire running over his foot; nevermind the fact that bike weigh a lot more than 10 pounds. Even Lance Armstrong's bike weighs more than that; and I'm sure few people use a bike like that for commuting to work.

The problem is that most smokers don't realise they stink. My mother was a smoker for many years and when she did quit she herself noticed how badly smokers stink. And I don't think anyone is suggesting they put on fresh clothes. To some it's an annoyance.
I've encountered the smoking thing on the train myself. I don't complain but rather get off at the next stop and catch the next train.

Antithesis,
When LRT was first built they just wanted to build it a.s.a.p. When you go through the CP tunnel before coming onto 7th ave you can see it. There is a tunnel that they can use to go under city hall and 8 ave. They just left it that way to use at a different date. They would have to do some major tunneling but I suppose it can still be done. It would make a lot of sense to put at least one of the lines underground.

Bikes are not allowed during 6am to 9 am or during 3pm to 6 pm Mon-Fri on all trains. Bikes are allowed only in the end of each car and never directly behind the driving end. These rules are rarely enforced but most drivers will make PA's and many will hold the train until the bike(s) are off. Additonally, during rush hour there is so many people on some of these trains that there just isn't room for a bike even if the driver lets you.

And if the person beside you hadn't bathed in a week you'd be fine with that?
Or how about I pass gas the whole time i'm beside you. Would you be fine with that also?

Of course not. But since I understand its public transportation and not, say, my car where I would have the luxury of kicking said stinky person out of my car... whatcha gonna do?

As long as your fine with having no teeth.
Dude, its public transportation. Not everyone is going to live up to your high level of cleanliness. Maybe you can offer free sponge baths at the door?
Either that or quit acting like a pansy.

Of course it's public transit. And having a daily bath is not a high level of cleanliness. Nobody I know walks around reeking of body odor.

Totally agree with ya. Still doesnt change the fact that some people that use the C-train are gonna stink, swear, spit and piss you off in ways you could have never imagined.
Deal with it.

I have. In one instance some shot nosed punk was swearing up a storm on the train. Come the next stop a bunch of us grabbed this kid and hauled him off the train. And to the applause of other passengers.

Way to go. See, its easy. Just kick the people off that you cannot tolerate.
Stinky street person gotcha down? No problem! Haul his ass off!
Single mother with screaming kids dangling from each arm? Kick them down to the tracks! It's just that easy!

I totally see your point, but public transportation by it's nature requires thick skin.
Riding the c-train is a good time to go to your own "happy place"

Yes it was easy. And it's not about what I can't tolerate. It's more to do with society deems acceptable manners. And in this case it was swearing.

No it's not that easy. If I guy stinks too bad I get off and catch another train.
As for the kids......I like them and entertain them as a means to help the mother out.

You may need to keep in mind the title of the thread. The title specifically contains the word "rant." People are here to rant.

First off, you aren't supposed to bring your bike on the train during rush our since it's packed like a sardine can, I understand people need to bring their bikes on, but they should do so during the appropriate times.
re: smoking, while I agree it's public transit, it's still gross, i'm ranting and i hate it, and i do continue to "suck it up" because transit is a hell of a lot better than dealing with traffic. Next time you complain about traffic i hope someone says "they are public roads, deal with it, if you don't like it, don't drive".
also, i have 2 cars (i'm not bragging, just saying i don't need to "save up" to buy one).
