I have got to hand it to AlbertGQ, he has no credible arguments, he has no legs left to stand on, and he stopped making sense a long time ago, but yet he is still going.# I think even Jordon in is heyday would have stopped long ago.

You want to start again?
Your ONLY points for supporting gay marriages is that it is between two individuals and that it does not affect you. I brought up another scenario with the exact same points yet you dismiss them as different.
|
Sigh, only in your mind do the two have any similarity. Many people have debated against you on this topic and you just keep throwing out ridiculous what if scenarios that have no chance of happening. The gay marriage thing works as a large rule. The scenarios you put out are individual cases, so the incest does not work as a large rule.
Not only that, but in the course of these debates we have found your position to be a little selfish as you pick and choose which of your religions rules are truly important, and which can be bent and broken. IE Gay sex wrong, since it's easy for you to not do, but pre-marital sex not so wrong, since it's hard to avoid. Don't you think that Gay sex for gays would be just as hard to avoid for them as premarital (or sex at all) would be for you?
ON TOP OF ALL THAT, you even joked that two women would be more desirable then two men because it's not as disgusting. You later retracted that statment, but that just seemed to prove to all of us that your position isn't backed by logic, or even religious dogma, but an outright fear and disgust.
Drop it. I think it's fair to say you lost. And if you truly believe you'vemade your point. Just be happy with that.
EDIT: Spelling grammer
Just because its not a hot topic now doesn't mean it won't ever be. If gay marriages become legal in all of Canada and the US, dont' be surprised if incest marriages is next. Like I've said before, it only takes one wacko couple to take it to the courts
Yes, I've admitted time and time again that I am closed minded when it comes to homosexuals. I also choose to follow the rules of the bible that I am able to. I don't know if you are a part of any religion or not, but if you are, you probably only follow the rules that you are able to as well.
Yes, my position is based on disgust. I think its gross for two men to be together but I find it hot if two attractive females are together. Just the way I am
Once again I will remind you. I am not against gay marriages. If it ever passes, then good for them. BUT if it came to a vote, I would vote no

Dumb because I find two attractive females having sex hot and two guys having sex repulsive? You may enjoy watching both, but not me
It wouldn't break my heart if gay marriages became legal. BUT if I had to choose I would choose no. Just like I would vote Conservative in the next provincial election, but if the Liberals win, then so be it. Its not going to be the end of the world

Honestly, have you ever enjoyed a good girl on girl porn?
You probably have, and loved every second of it.
|
Funniest thing ever...
Albert have you ever heard of the incest taboo? One of the few things on this planet that is a cultural universal throughout history. Your little scenario may happen once every so often but the fact is incest is nowhere near as common as homosexuality.
When it does occure it is most often in the form of abuse.
|
At one point in time, homosexuality was also taboo, was in the form of abuse and not that common either. It has become more and more accepted and common nowadays. Who knows, maybe incest is following a similar but slower path.
You may be thinking there is no way incest would ever become common in society. But then again, no one thought the earth was round. No one thought the world revolved around the sun. No one thought women would ever be able to vote. No one thought cloning was possible. No one thought humans could communicate countries apart over a computer in mere seconds.
Ask your grandparents. They will probably say when they were teenagers, there was no way gay marriages would be a hot topic let alone a possibly in some provinces in Canada and/or states in the US.
You may not see incest becoming more common in todays society, but don't say its not a possibility
If it becomes a problem, then it becomes a problem, but I doubt it would have anything to do with changing our laws about gays and gay marriages.
Besides as some astute person here mentioned, homosexuality hasn't been taboo in every culture, incest is something that has ben pretty much across the board. The genetic defense mechanisms within us prevent if from being a wildly accepted form of (ewww, love?). Sure there will always be a few out there, but I doubt if it will ever become a huge issue.

This is a serious question for all religious people like albertGQ..............
Why be a certain religion if you are only going to follow 'certain' rules.
What's the point? Does it just sound cool to say "I'm Catholic", etc.?
It seems so hypocritical to me.........what's the point?

Incest hasn't been taboo accross the board throughout time. It used to be accepted in many cultures and I wouldn't be surprised if some tribes still practise that today

I dont' just pick and choose which rules I follow. I try to follow all of them, but some are just too hard. The pre-marital thing, I tried for a really long time, but eventually caved in. I tried not to steal when I was a teen too, but I ended up shoplifting a couple times. I don't just pick the ones I want to follow before hand at all.

I'll agree I have heard of some cases, but it's still FAR more taboo then homosexuality. And there's a biological reason for that.

I'm still waiting for someone who has gone to heaven to come back and tell me all about it. Is there like an endless beer keg up there or something? Unlimited chocolate? Free hockey games? A long line of kissing lesbians for albertGQ?
I'm still waiting for someone to tell us all about it. Until that time, I think I will remain skeptical.

So are you going to hell?
Or do you just have to tell some strange priest about your sins, then you're OK again? What's the scoop?
I just can't believe you can go so obviously against your bible without paying a heavy price.

Believe it or not I am skeptical as well. Sometimes I just think religion was man made to encourage moral behaviour. There has been no solid proof heaven exists but one has to believe in something right?

Heaven (IMO) was created partially to encourage moral behaviour, partially to control behaviour (see organized religion), and partially (probably the earliest people) because survival instincts within us have us believing that there can simply not posibly be an end. The survival instinct in us is so strong, we cannot believe that we would ever truly die.
And even as I say I 'know' that, I must admit I have my own version of heaven too. Though not the kissing lesbians, been there, done that. And there was a lot more going on then kissing, and I wasn't just spectating.
Oops...

This thread goes from John Kerry, to gay marriage, to religion, to marrying cats, to kissing lesbians, to porn stars.
Who needs hockey??
