EB in Westbrook got 16 this morning and sold them in 20 minutes. But apparently in the states people are seeing them in stores now, and even sears.com had them in stock not long ago.
Looks like hopefully within a couple weeks if you want a Wii you should have more leeway than having to wait in line in the morning, or definetly longer than 30 seconds online.

I can confirm that some places in the US have them in stock. I'm in Harrisonburg Virginia and there have been some at a Game Stop and an EB Games. Nothing at Wal-mart or Circuit City though. Also no controllers to be found anywhere. I was hoping this would be a sleepy town where people don't know too much bout them fancy Wii-mote thingies but dang it, they do!
Next stop is Midland/Odessa, and I'll be searching for controllers there too. If I get some I'm buying as many as I can and I'll sell off those I don't need.. whenever the hell I get a system.

I went to Future shop and Bestbuy at Northmount, and they said that they got 24 in, each, this morning, and were gone within an hour.

Not meant to be a gloating post, but I lucked onto a Wii a couple of weeks ago at Superstore on Macleod. I was going there on my break from work and on my way home everyday for a week. I was actually surprised to find one. 3 sold in the time I was there, about 20 mins. The sports game is addictive and everyone plays it, 4 years old, 44, 74... the boxing game is a real blast. Raving Rabbids is quite fun as well. If anyone lucks into a place that is selling them, buy all the accessories that you can, memory card, classic controller, extra remote, nunchuck etcetera. Hell, even the Wii points cards are HTF. We've purchased 4 games from the Wii console. Anyone else purchase any dowloadable games yet?
EDIT; incidentally, Superstore was selling them with a limit of 1, any over the limit and the second unit is $999.99

Just a news flash for Wii owners/Zelda geeks who haven't noticed yet - A Link to the Past is available on the virtual console for 800 points!!
I've been waiting for this one, already in the Dark World!

Yah actually I noticed Link to the Past a couple days ago. But I own the original cartridge so I'm good Golden Axe and Bonk's Adventure are sweet though.
Also, Wii News Channel launched today.

I've purchased several including Gradius (may be one of the most difficult games ever made, when not cheating), Golden Axe, Ice Hockey and Bomberman 93.

A modchip has been released for the Wii (two actually), able to play backups. Must say that was very fast!

BTW, controllers are available on Nintendo's site right now (I just received notification that the controller I had backordered is shipping)

Well, my online Wii hunt has been very unsuccessful thus far. I've signed up through consolewatch, apparently some Wii's became available yesterday on FS website and I didn't even get an email.
I'm unable to download RSS s/w onto my work computer here - anybody have other suggestions / secrets on how to get one? Thought there's probably other options out there...

Yeah console watch is too slow still.. you can try the Check4Changes firefox plugin to monitor the websites directly. More info can be found here:
