You still don't accumulate cap space towards the deadline if you have a player on LTIR, even if he's declared out for the season. Puckpedia shows Vegas with $2.4 million in cap space now, and the exact same amount at the deadline. If they unloaded Pietrangelo and tweaked their roster a bit, they could be under the cap without LTIR and start accumulating space for another deadline acquisition.
