I guarantee that the Flames will win tonight. Goaltending will be the difference.

I find it hard to reconcile those two statements with one another.

It'd be impressive to be able to pull that off from Kelowna

For how long?

Did he tell you the story of how Noodles played a practical joke on Iggy, but ol' grumpy Sutter found out and blamed Gelinas for the shenanigans?

That sounds suspiciously like the Parking Lot...do we need to check your trunk?

Very little about their roster impresses me. Why would automatically say you would take their roster over the Flames? Neither is great from my POV.
The question is was who is better. I would trade this flames roster for almost any roster in the league. Even a worse roster at least gives them some hope of not being perennially stuck in the middle of the league. The islanders have Schaefer who I would rather have over Parekh, we have Wolf who is a great goalie but not significantly better than Sorokin, and pretty much everyone else is a big bag of who cares. I’d rather the top end prospect in Schaefer than anything we have in our pipeline

This was the original quote that is questioning why Schaefer is playing more on a "way better team".

"Watching both Buium and Schaefer play 20-25mins a night on much better teams"

Clearly it wasn't about the long-term prospects of each organization. It was about which team is better right now.

That's what I was responding to. You've since moved the goal posts to an entire different field.

I personally don't really feel it is important to see how Parekh matches up with his fellow defencemen. What is the goal here? Who was Parekh as a defencemen compared to Buium and Schaefer?

Parekh - in my eye - easily has the highest offensive acumen of all young defencemen entering the league this year. Full stop. Parekh also probably has the least experience and current ability defensively out of all defencemen entering the league this year (or thereabouts).

Parekh was very much a one-way defencemen, right? You can't expect him to be utilized in the same way as Buium and Schaefer. Development isn't a cookie-cutter approach that can be mimicked across the board. I will trust the Flames coaching and development staff to put Parekh in a position that will allow him to grow. Parekh is more than willing to become a more well-rounded defencemen - Ray Edwards has praised his work ethic and maturity in that area of his game. It is coming along, but to point at Buium and Schaefer, and declare that this is the kind of usage that Parekh should be receiving at this point in time is simply ignoring the differences between these defencemen.

Parekh will get there. There is no need to rush him. I am sure Crosby would love to have had the Calder to this trophy case too, but his three Stanley Cups and his reputation for being the best overall player in the world for a decade + probably hushes that down to a whisper I bet.

Ok I would much rather watch the islanders current roster than the flames as I think they are better than the flames. I would get more enjoyment out of watching almost any other roster than this years version of the flames.

Again on what basis are they better
They finished way behind them last season and have no wins this season
If you don’t want to watch the Flames…don’t

The Flames only got to Salt Lake City at 3am, hopefully they start on time. As long as the 1st shot doesn't go in, I'm happy.
