I don't think so because I remember hearing him tell that story and he said he woke up in a cold sweat because the jersey didn't have any red in it and that's why he cancelled it.

Given the jersey has 09 as the number, I'd guess it was done for the 2009 season. That year they brought back the retros for the 30th Anniversary, which is likely what they did instead of that prototype.

I think we will see these 2004 throwbacks very soon, likely before the end of October. The LA, Pittsburgh & Colorado ones with the Nordiques logos weren't "accidently" leaked like the Ottawa & black Chicago jerseys were, and the Flames haven't yet released any jersey schedules telling us when we will be wearing our Blasty blacks in the 2025-26 season.

Thanks Freeway. I clearly missed that. However, they wore them 15 times in 2024-25, so only wearing them 6 times in 2025-26 likely indictates that a new look is coming.

Around the league uniform related: Avs will wear blue Nordiques jerseys/uniforms 7 times this year in their 30th year in Denver.

Two of those games is vs Carolina, who have decided to be wearing their white Whalers set. One game is Thursday, the other in January.

Throw back of the Adams semi finals in 1986 and 1987.

I'm willing to wager that 'this year' meant calender year or within 12 months or something. News has leaked about Fantics really kicking off their new jersey program for next season. I get we see that Black C jersey then as party of whatever they're calling their city connect line
