I have a vested interest now in getting this guy to the NHL level so we can hear Beasley yell his name over the PA after he scores.

Few notes on Stockselius:
-Theo’s 51 points are 17th-best all-time/season in the J20 for a U-18 player.
- His 1.28 ppg are tied for 50th all-time (over 10 games played) in a J20 season for an U-18 player, tied with Erikson-Ek.
-He was the leading scorer in the J20 playoffs with 16 points in 9 games, which is tied for 3rd all-time (the other 2 did it in 7 games), but he ranks 2nd all-time for a U-18 player.
-Stocky is not yet 18 years old, as his birthday is July 24th.

If Stockselius turns out to be the next Joel Eriksson Ek, I shall be very well pleased.

6'4" natural center who missed a year staving off cancer. Somewhere in my brain there's signals telling me to say "what if he didn't get Cancer? Where would he have been drafted?"
This could be the 2nd biggest steal of this draft right behind the Cullen Potter pick.

Yup, just think of what his numbers would've looked like if his physical development was on par with his peers? He already had one of the better performances in Sweden's junior league's history- if he didn't miss that time, he would have surely been a first-rounder. I think we may have a gem here.

From what I read, he started the tourney as the 2C, but ended up playing wing on a line with Gastrin and Ihs-Wozniak.

Yeah, according to an article in the Herald, his treatments came in August of 2022, then in November- but he was often sick before he was diagnosed and operated on. One of the knocks on Stockselius leading up to the draft was that he was underdeveloped physically, and needed to build leg strength in order to get faster- he was up to 196lbs by the time the playoffs rolled around, though.

He's a big, tall kid. It's not hard to imagine him adding some muscle and filling out.

Yeah, he just turned 18, lots of filling out to do on that frame.

Roope Hintz was taken 49th-overall, while Stockselius was chosen at pick #54, albeit in a weaker draft. Hopefully, he’ll be our version of him.
