The fact I have to root for Vegas makes me physically ill.

Helps me to think of it more as hoping for the oilerz to lose, rather than Knights to win.

Initial schedule for this has been Released only times for Games 1 & 2 are known, but dates are out.

Tue May 6th 7:30 Mountain
Thr May 8th 7:30 Mountain
Sat May 10th TBD
Mon May 12th TBD
Wed May 14th TBD
Fri May 16th TBD
Sun May 18th TBD

Looks like most Oiler fans till spend Victoria Day wondering why they didn't fix their goaltending and how it cost them this series, and if it's going to result in McDavid signing in a place like Florida.

Barbashev - Roy - Smith vs. Frederic - Henrique - Brown: Advantage Vegas
Pearson - Howden - Olofsson vs. Podkolzin - Janmark - Arvidsson: Push

McNabb - Theodore vs. Nurse - Bouchard: Push
Hague - Pietrangelo vs. Walman - Klingberg: Advantage Vegas
Hanifin - Whitecloud vs. Kulak - Emberson: Advantage Vegas

Hill vs Pickard/Skinner: Advantage Vegas but it's pretty slight based on Hill's recent form.

I'd say for Forwards it's pretty close, but the Oilers have the two best forwards in the series, so that gives them the advantage. Vegas has 5 guys that are pretty effective centers though (Eichel, Hertl, Roy, Howden, Karlsson).

Defense is a clear advantage for Vegas and hopefully they can slow down 29 and 97.

Goaltending for both teams is a bit inconsistent, but Hill is the most proven and hopefully can find his A game.
I respect your opinions but WTF is with the bolded? I am hoping that was just a typo. Fixing the defense comparisons:

McNabb - Theodore vs. Nurse - Bouchard: Huge Ad Vegas
Hague - Pietrangelo vs. Walman - Klingberg: Big Ad Vegas
Hanifin - Whitecloud vs. Kulak - Emberson: Gigantic Ad Vegas

The advantage Vegas has in this series is arguably the best D in the league, vs a pretty lousy D. The series comes down to two questions, IMO:

1) can Vegas contain McDavid and Draisaitl sufficiently (I believe they can with that D)

2) Can Eichel and Stone run a successful PP? If so, they win the series.

I hope Cassidy doesn't panic like Hiller did as soon as he see Grease Pigs double and triple shifting the Grease Twins and start playing 6 forwards and 4 D's.

God, I hate this team so much. If it wasn't for Jim Hiller and Quintin Byfield the Oilers would have got swept. Or atleast taken out in 5.

I love that he references Hills SV% at .880 and the Vegas PK being in 8th. Ignoring that Pickard was only at .893 and Edmontons PK was dead last.

I'm not sure that Edmonton's numbers were relevant to the Minny/Vegas series.

Now, if he did an article on how did Edmonton get by LA, those numbers are relevant.

Just found it interesting that he'll gladly question how Vegas got by Minny using some quick hit bad stats. But there won't ever be an article acknowledging the similar issues with Edmonton in their own series.

Vegas got by Minnesota because they were ultimately the better team and showed resilience. Edmonton got by LA because LA took their foot of the gas at key moments of the game. Give Edmonton credit for taking advantage and stepping up as the series went on. But it was a series win with it's own warts.

I’m not sure Vegas is / was better then healthy minny in the series or at all

OT goals were the difference which are semi random . But Minny more then held their own IMO

Minny when healthy was a top 5 team this year

Vegas has a big mobile defence that is hard to play against. That is what sets them, Florida and Tampa apart.

Whilst I’m not sure what series a has to do with series b, what I am certain of is that someone who claims to be in sports journalism should have at least picked up the snet playoffs on their tv and recognized that there were other series going on. I’ll pile on and say “what a grease pigs centric comment”.

If this person had watched the literal series that would produce the winner to next play his beloved piggies, he would have noted that it was different style of hockey from the kings v oilers.

If he had any inkling outside the signal that his bunny ears tv receives, he would also know that stats become extremely skewed in a small sample size as experienced through any playoff series, not just hockey.

Here’s a stat that matters: Vegas out scored Minnesota in 4 out of 6 games and accordingly won the series 4-2.

Here’s a stat that matters a bit: Dustin neilson is 0-1 for intelligent posts today. Should we extend that stat forever to be 0-infinity?

Go Vegas. Save us.

I like it when they talk big talk and throw shade on teams before the series begins.

Just makes the resulting beat down that much more enjoyable.
